- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2025It's so small I was skeptical that it would pick up the room voices and music. But it worked great.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2013I used this in a stage setting mounted at the front of the stage live amplifying kids in a musical. The spot is difficult because it is in front of the band which does not need amplification but introduces feedback into the voice amplification if directionality is bad. However, directionality of the mic proofed to be very good, I got a nice usable range out of the mic before I hit feedback even if the band was playing heartily right behind it.
Since the mic was used side-by-side with a couple of more expensive boundaries (AT871UG ~ $300 new), it became obvious that the sound was not as crystal clear and natural as the AT871. It was not only a bit mushy but also a bit "hollow" and less natural so I had to raise the mid-levels. The result still sounded a bit more "amplified". However, that was much more pronounced due to the presence of the AT871s (which have a beautiful sound). I think this mic does a fine job with voice pick-up, I am not sure you can do better for the price or this size.
It was not more or less sensitive to foot sound than other boundaries. It blocked direct sound transmission ok but picked up steps strongly due to proximity to the source - as all of them do. It might have been slightly more sensitive than the AT871.
The cable is very long and thin so you can hide the cable and move connection points flexibly but the cable is not removable from the mic.
Overall, a recommended buy and a very good value but not up to par with significantly more expensive microphones.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2015I used these along with a Zoom H5 placed at the front of a stage for a 6th grade production of Beauty and the Beast. It has always been a pet peeve of mine that video shot at such events is often marred by poor sound - and I decided to see what I could do about that! The setup worked great - the cords included are very long / we had a 45 foot stage and with the Zoom in the middle and these placed about 15 feet on either side there was plenty of cord to spare. They are very sensitive and were placed directly on the stage - surprisingly, not too much problem with footfalls, the cancellation design appears to work well. I ended up recording both dress rehearsals as well and analyzing the sound afterward. I think I ended up setting these at about 5 on the Zoom with the Zoom's built in microphones at 6 or 7. Your milage may vary - strongly recommend either having access to change gain setting during the recording (NOT an option for me with placement on front lip of the stage!) or taping rehearsals if you are going to use them that way.
The units are very rugged - during one scene one was knocked off the stage and ended up under a microphone stand (the theatre had a separate mic setup from mine - and it was not possible for me to tap into that as initially I had planned to do - I think this setup worked better than what they had anyway!) So, despite being kicked, dropping 4 feet, and being under another microphone stand the thing still worked well (Sure did hear some footfalls with it upside-down under a mic stand!) - and it still worked great for the next performance and since then.
Overall, highly recommended for junior theatre productions!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2023Needed some more presence on a baby grand piano used occasionally in church service. This was an easy install, just taped it to the cover over the sound board holes, the small diameter wire was long enough to inconspiciusly route out the back. Sound was a little hot but dialed in OK. Music Director was happy, All Good.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2021Super SMALL support mic. We use it at our church pulpit. Great directional amplification. I
emphasize small because the dimensions given are the shipping BOX ... Not the AT MIC. The Mic is actually smaller than 2 quarters side by side.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2013This is extremely misrepresented in size. It says the dimensions are 19 by 16 by 5 inches or something like that when the product that I recieved looks just like the picture but the picture is actually bigger than the microphone, it is about the size of a half of a hardboiled egg - very tiny and light. It came attached to a very long cord but it really was about 2 by 1 1/2 inches by about 3/4 inch high.
It did however work extraordinarily better than expected. We were using it as a floor mic for a clam shell outdoor theater - we have used larger boundary mics before - usually 2 but this one actually did amazing well. Didn't quite get all of the stage so that did require a little reblocking, wish I had purchased 2 but for the money it is wonderful. I actually will probably order a second one so we can do both sides of the stage.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2020I bought this for my priest to use during Church services, and he loves it. We all love it. He sounds great, and now we can hear him when his back is turned to us.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2016Overall I think this is a great option for a small black box theatre production. It picked up our younger, softer spoken actors and singers, and made for a much better show. The only difficulty is being aware of the microphone placements so that doesn't get stepped on. I feel that you need at least two in order to make this an efficient sound system for your production.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome mic for its purpose
A little less powerful than the Audio Technica Mic PRO 44 but also VERY discret and smaller than Pro44.
I love this crystal clear sound paired with simply H4N. Great deal, fast efficient seller.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little mic
Great little mic for capturing panel discussions at presentations. The only critique I have is that it needs phantom power and so cannot use it with a cam that has no phantom power unless its through a mixer or an inline phantom power supply.
