Product description

Swap, spin, and slide the gems until you match three-in-a-row. Engaging and thought provoking, you'll finagle these beautiful gems to earn points against the clock with each match-three. Fun to play, and aesthetically pleasant to look at, you'll find this is a challenging game with an animated, colorful and well-crafted interface.

Gems are arranged inside of pieces of different shapes and sizes. Swap adjacent gems to match three in a row. Double-tap a gem to spin its piece 180 degrees. Match all the gems in a piece to clear the piece from the board. Drag pieces to empty board spaces to create more match opportunities. Match enough spaces to complete the level goal and then continue to swap, spin, and drag to try to clear the entire board.

As you get better, the game gets harder. It's easy to learn with narrated instructions, but it's hard to master, so challenge yourself with 35 levels. Track your score, and compare your skills with others all over the world.

I loved this game when I was running Gingerbread. Now that I have Jellybean, I'm disappointed. The app is garbled just like many other programs that haven't had revisions for compatibility with Jellybean. It's a shame too because it's a great game.

While the gameplay is rather unique and the application did run on my tablet, my issue was that it did not take my tablet's display resolution into consideration. I can see that not being a problem on most phones (perhaps on some,) but it looked quite ugly when the gameboard was stretched to accommodate the tablet's screen... The other apps I have automatically adjust their graphics accordingly so the images are crisp and sharp, not blurred like this game.

Pros: challenging, fun, different, easy to learn

Cons: graphics aren't great, but worse than that is some system tic that doesn't count matches I've made. You have to make a certain number of matches to clear a level. unfortunately it doesn't always count a match and you have to keep going. If that was fixed I would give this one 5 stars.

This game is challenging, and different enough from the standard 3-gem-match sort of game that it is familiar in aspects of game play, but quite different than the "same old same old." Similarities to Tetris that are frequently mentioned are almost entirely on the surface. Yeah, there are shapes that fit together (or don't!) but game play resembles Tetris not at all. Includes a practice level and four progressively harder play levels, with each level containing many individual mini-levels. A nice aspect of the game is that you can pick whichever individual level and board you would care to play at your discretion -- sort of like entering a channel number directly on your TV remote. No need to start all over at the easiest levels if you crash and burn on a higher level. Or, stay at the level you are trying to master until you feel ready to move on. The graphics are not spectacular, but they are fine for playing the game. I assume that the adequate but not super level of graphics puts less of a demand on your device, helping smoother game play. Oddly, the game is a bit weak in the instructions. You will probably have to figure out a few of the details for yourself - but the instructions get you off to a good start, and allow for enjoyable play anyway. The missing details will become apparent to you as you play, and are not a deal-breaker IMO. And, do take note that the game pieces ARE MOVABLE so that you can (and should) try to get them arranged in the most favorable way. They are moved by dragging and placing them, which takes a bit of practice to do well. But if you think of the pieces the same way that you think of Tetris game pieces, you will only confuse yourself and get frustrated. This ain't Tetris, nor is it Bejeweled. It is its own game. I find it quite enjoyable, and suggest to you that it is worth a try.

I've never seen this game before. When Amazon offered it as the free app of the day I decided to give it a go despite it being, "yet another match 3 game."

So I hopped in and realized very quickly I had no idea what I was doing on this game. The moves I wanted to make it would not let me make so I went back to the main menu and hit the tutorial.

This is more than a match 3 game. There is the matching aspect, but there are so many ways you can work it into matching 3 or more in a row. Such as moving or flipping (spinning) the shapes the gems are in.

Each level gives a very easy goal to beat the level and go on. But I have found myself continuing on afterwards trying my best to clear the level. It isn't easy, I think I've only done it thrice in the four hours I've been playing this (yes, I could not put the thing down).

I love the challenge this game presents and its difference from other games. You really need to get creative sometimes in order to clear the gems. I'm considering this a keeper! It is very addictive and a lot of fun. If you didn't get this the day it is free go ahead and pay the two bucks. I think it is worth it!

The game is innovative as far as jewel puzzle games go yet I would not pay for it.

The problem with this game lies in it's extremely poor graphics.

The game has movable tetris like pieces that contain jewels. The game requires you to line up three or more jewels to clear them. It then grays out the area dropping more jewels into place.

The object is to gray out an entire tetris like piece to clear it (similar to the alchemy puzzle game)

Once again the game is unique but the lackluster graphics make it borderline unplayable.

Graphics are nothing of interest yet passable. Easily could be ignored yet at full price (no). Jumping to game controls makes the graphics more painful as it is hard to swap gems, doesn't seem to read double trap to rotate pieces. Just overall not a good game experience.

The idea is good but it seems to need a slightly better interface for movement and it REALLY needs better visuals. The gems seem slightly stretched and the rest seems a bit out of date. Still generally, it's worth trying and I'll look forward to any updates.

2.0 out of 5 stars Gem Spinner
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 27, 2016
Played the free (lite) version first on my android phone and had to get it on the kindle too. I am such a puzzle fiend and in my opinion Gem Spinner is such a great logical game. You can move the 'sections' holding groups of gems anywhere on the screen (as long as they fit in the available space), double tap to spin and swipe gems to make matches of 3 gems or more to complete. There is also the added perk of the advance option that can take you to the next stage/level once you have reached the goal for the stage! No need to clear the screen of gems if you don't want to but a great challenge if you do. The downside to the game is that progress cannot be saved....not cool.....at all! Every time you go back to the game you have to start again. Why??
Taken down my 5 star rating to 2 now, developers need to look into this.
