Great Case for the HP touchpad, worth the extra money.

Great Case for the HP touchpad, worth the extra money.
This case may smell a little funny for the first few days and it is a bit more expensive than the other ones but if you ask me it worth the money. All the ports are accessible and the TP is well protected. It is thin and durable and a great investment. The only con is that there is no magnetic lock to hold the lid shut. That and one of the positions is a bit unstable if you don't secure the flap very precisely. I would recommend this case to all TP owners! Update (8 months later): The case is still holding up well and I feel it was still a good investment. I don't really miss the magnetic lock. The only thing i didn't like so far is that there is a tiny piece of plastic that sticks out near the power plug. Since they had to create space for the port so we can plug in the cable the little strip of plastic is too thin and ends up sticking out. It doesn't affect the protection of the case but its annoying to me! (See the attached pictures)

I LOVE this case for several reasons:
      - It truly is a custom fit. Meaning, that is adds very little to the bulk of the HP Touchpad. What impressed me about the fit is that the "base" of the case - the part the Touchpad goes into is rigid, but covered with a soft texture. In other words, this is not like a soft vinyl or TPU case, it clearly has some protection, but inside is very soft as to not scratch the Touchpad.
      - The cover folds like all the other iPad covers on the market so you have variability with your usage scenarios.
      - Some reviewers commented about a velcro stip. The velcro strip is used (but I am not sure it is needed) as a supplemental way to secure the tab when you fold the cover back and need to tuck it into the slot at the back of the case. The velcro is not needed to keep the cover closed. Unlike some reviewers, i had no issues with my cover. It laid flat across the entire surface and did not need any extra mechanism to keep it flat.
      - As I mentioned above, this case will offer some amount of drop protection around all edged (and back) of the Touchpad because the Touchpad "snaps" into a form fitted rigid case.
      - As mentioned in the product description, the case has cutouts for the USB port, the headphone jack and the mic at the top. The volume and power buttons are covered, but they do not hamper the operation of those buttons.
      - This case DOES allow the Touchpad to work with the Touchstone charge dock with the case on.
Overall a great case ata great value. When it is on and closed, one will hardly notice that it adds bulk to the Touchpad, but it does appear to provide ample protection.

This case fits so snugly that it hardly adds any extra weight or space to the TouchPad. It is very well designed. The front cover folds to create the stand, which is just the right angle in one direction for typing & in the other direction for watching something. On the stand, it is very secure. The flap fits into the tab with velcro and stays there. When the flap is not in use the velcro holds it shut. The front cover is soft on the inside so won't scratch the Touchpad. Other cases covered the outer edges with its own border, which could be annoying if you were watching a video, but this case only goes to the top of the sides, not onto the front side of the TouchPad. I didn't have a problem getting it in, but it's true that it does fit snugly. (Isn't that what you would want?) Some people were complaining that there is no way to secure the front cover in place, but the way the rest of the cover is designed, there would be no way to do that without making it bigger.

There are so many generic cases out there that they are just trying to make them cheaper & cheaper. HP is the only designer who had a vested interest in making a great case to make the TouchPad seem better. All the generic cases seem similar to each other, but this one is better. Spend a few dollars more to get an HP accessory for something this essential to the use of the TouchPad.

And it's currently priced just high enough to qualify for free shipping.

Tip: When you first get it, let it rest in the stand open for a while to get the crease in the front cover to hold. It's a little stiff at first.

I was very happy with my Touchpad Custom Fit Case at first. It fit well, wasn't expensive and seemed to be built to last. I also like that it works with the Touchstone charger. This is my first tablet, so I've been taking it everywhere, however I'm very careful with it and I use the Touchpad Sleeve from HP to cover the unit in it's case when not in use.

Last month I noticed that the rubber surrounding the cutouts for the Wake/Sleep button, and the mini-USB port have distended on the side facing the screen. Hard to describe so I'll post some photos, however, it's unsightly and has me looking for a new case. I do use the Wake/Sleep button a lot, but I rarely use the mini-USB, so there is no reason that I can see for these small pieces of rubber to be bowing. I have two of these cases (I purchased a second unit as a gift and accessories, as yet ungiven) and I'll follow up on this review in a few months to see if the second case is also showing this issue.

This may seem like a small issue to drop so many stars but I believe it's only a matter of time before this rubber breaks somehow, leaving me with a damaged case.

I bought this awhile ago when the HP touchpad just got discontinued so the value was not there. It was $25 around then. At $10 though it is a superb deal compared to the other generic cases. It fits the touchpad well and has a nice rubbery, non-slick feel to it. It works very well as a case, but as a stand it doesn't seem as stable at the higher setting. The hole at the bottom of the case where the AC adapter plugs in has become a little bit stretched out though. The rubber case is sturdy and only has a few parts showing wear and tear. I would buy another one if this one wears out. At the retail price of $50, it is not worth it, but at $10 it is an essential accessory to your discounted touchpad.

I also have the Technocel case for the ipad. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HD5EXO/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
To compare, it is $2 cheaper, but it doesn't fit the touchpad as well since it was not designed for it. I would definitely spend the extra $2 to get the HP touchpad case.

I bought this case because I wanted to keep my HP touchpad protected when not in use.
The Case fits snugly on the Touchpad and all the side buttons work along with the HP touchstone.
The front of the case folds back and clips to the back, which makes a stand for the tablet to rest on. I quite like this as you don't need to hold the tablet up a bit or bring your head forward when you use the touchpad on your lap. The second position for the stand is good for use at a desk with the HP touchpad bluetooth keyboard or when its charging, but I won't use it as I have a HP touchstone.
The case feels good quality and hopfully it will be good at protecting the touchpad.
