Story
One day as Patrick sits below the waves, near Bikini Bottom, two identical items slip down from the surface. One bops him on the head, while the other floats away out of sight. Patrick picks up the one that came to him and realizes that it is a magical pencil that brings whatever is drawn with it to life. He recalls though that there is something that he was told to never draw with one of these pencils, but can't remember exactly what that thing was though. To jog his memory he decides to sketch a little. And as he finishes his final stroke he realizes what it was he was not supposed to draw, SpongeBob's nemesis, DoodleBob, but too late. In that moment DoodleBob springs to life, grabs the pencil from Patrick and disappears. Worried, Patrick tells SpongeBob of his mistake, but can SpongeBob stop the evil DoodleBob before its too late for Bikini Bottom and all its residents?

Gameplay
Using the familiar
Drawn to Life sketch functionality players use the DS or DSi stylus to create a character and alter the environment in order to stop DoodleBob. Play as your creations and start your search across the platforming gameworld for the villain. Your pencil can be used to alter stunned enemy's physically appearance and even make them allies with a little practice. The game contains more than 20 levels, each with their own specific objectives that you need to complete before you can advance to the next stage, as well as multiplayer versus support for 2-players via a Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.

This is by far the best DS game we have for my age group. I have 3-5 year olds (and I play it too!) who all follow along and know what they are doing. The only reading involved is when you get to draw something new for the game. You draw your own health meter, your own crown to finish the level, steps, clouds, slingshots, your bed (to save), radio, television, and many more! This is a very exciting game. The kids are always looking forward to what they get to draw next. The 5 year old boy is the best at the game and handles the drawing well. 4 yr old girl (who hasnt played video games up till this one) and 3 year old boy need help with that. The only thing I wish this game had that it doesn't is extra game slots so they didnt have to play each others' game. The game is exciting and something new, it is the style of Mario but without being as hard. It has an easy setting for the younger ones and normal setting for the older ones. This was well worth my $20 and has gotten hours of play time! Highly recommended for kids and adults of any age. If you are looking for a more complicated game, this is not it, but the drawing aspect draws me in so I don't mind it being a little bit easy.

I got this for my 6-year-old daughter, but I think I ended up enjoying it more than she did! She really liked the characters, the story/dialogue, and especially being able to draw/color, but the levels were for the most part too difficult for her. So we played together - she would draw, read, and do some of the easier parts of the levels, then hand it over to me to finish off the level. I became addicted to the game! Some parts were pretty challenging for me, but somehow I could not put it down. I rarely ever play video games but this one sucked me in. I looked forward to seeing what each new level was going to be like and what creative villains we'd have to battle. I think the most charming part was seeing our own drawings come to life and becoming an actual part of the game. We both love the episode the game is based on so we really got a kick out of being a part of doodle world. The great price Amazon offered this game for made it an awesome buy!

I love this game....I love to draw and to see my drawing in action is really amazing! The only thing I would criticize in this game is that you do alot of the same thing over and over again in all the levels. But that is common in most games, the cool part is you can always go back to the icon where you did your drawing and redo it at anytime if you get bored with it. This was definitely worth it for the fun factor. I am truly a kid at heart.

I had this game when I was younger so i ordered it because, well, nostalgia. halfway through the game it quit letting me past a certain level whether I beat it or not repeatedly. its not my DS because I play other games on it all the time with no issue.

Got this game for my 7 year old for Christmas and he loves it. He played it non stop for a couple of hours and is now his favorite game. My older kids have also played it and enjoyed it, so there is fun to be had for all ages...not just for 7 year olds. I'd say it's a must for all Spongebob fans who are also DS owners, especially those who are also fans of Doodlebob.
