I got this monitor without researching it. The one I purchased audio did not work on the tv monitor, The tv has a decent picture though it does get lines on it some. The audio receiver worked fine, though not great battery life. I had to have both video and audio receivers together to use the tv. I called the manufactor and they sent me a whole new system. The plug to the NEW tv monitor didn't work. I called again and they sent me a new plug. The TV works better then the last but it only picks up on the loud cries, not the fussing before that. So I still have to use the audio receiver with the tv, at least they sent me an extra audio receiver. Overall, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. The range is fine in our two story house, but it does have static some, normally repositioning the receiver fixes that.

We have loved the system until now! Woke up this morning and the video screen was black with a single line in the center! The audio still works, but after 18 months I've become attached to being able to see what my daughter is doing in her crib!

I'm very disappointed that this product pooped out in only a year and a half.

I got this monitor used from a neighbor 2 years ago when my son was born. She had it for 2 years prior so the system is approx 4 years old now. First off, the picture of the camera is misleading. This is not just one little bit that you set on a shelf. It's a whole setup that has to be attached to the side of your child's crib, which, as anyone with a child who can pull themselves up, is not an ideal situation. I've got mine secured with lots and lots of electrical tape to keep my son from flipping the monitor channels and spinning it all over. Secondly, the handheld unit on our system died shortly after we received it so I've not really used it. Hopefully this was an abnormally short lifespan. Now, just today, about 4 years of hard use, my video monitor has died. It no longer powers on. This unit is a dinosaur. It reminds me of the old black and white tv I used to use in my room as a kid, but none the less it has served me well. I put up with it's bulky size and other drawbacks because it was free, but now that I look at the unit, and the cost (really safety 1st? $157???) I find this unit archaic. I didn't even think they sold them anymore.
In conclusion: It works well, range is great, it's held up pretty well for 4 years of hard use, but that was when it was free. Technology has progressed. I'd pass up this unit to get something much more updated for a very similar price.

Really good product for my daughter, she's now a year old and I still use it on her! I can see exactly what's happening in her room and I don't panic at night.
