- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2011I love this bluetooth for skype. While talking I can do other things in my little area while I am overseas in a 10x10 area. It also works great with music. I was messing with it and started hearing music. Then made a call to my sis and the music stopped. As soon as I hung up the music I selected started hearing again. I went about maybe 50 feet and no more music. If your lap top is close though you can talk and do dishes, fold clothes etc... Amazing my sis doesn't have an excuse anymore to say that she is busy and can't talk. :) Plus skype to skype is free. I love my other blue tooth for my cell phone. I will be glad to try this one with my cell as well. Maybe it will be even better. Just wish the internet connect while overseas was better. :( So I love this product and you will too. Oh and it's easy to install. Just charge it up for 2 hrs. Then plug in the thumb drive. Turn on the bluetooth. Conncet to Skype. It will prompt you to accept the device. Say yes. That's it. The disk that comes with it. You may download the instruction to your pc but no necessary and neither is the disk. I will save it though. """ BEST PRODUCT """ WELL WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY. Thanks a bunch. Gonna show my sis how great it works when I get home.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2011Purchased Jabra Extreme to use with Skype. After my computer turns off and back on, the headset will not reconnect. Jabra's tech support is overseas which should not be a problem for me, as I have lived and worked extensively in Asia. I have already talked with 5 different tech support personnel, after extremely long hold times for each. The call quality and their advice is so bad I must reluctanty return the headset.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2011I purchased this headset for use with Ventrillo, if this is your intention, stay away.
Pros:
Works easily with my Blackberry. Ear piece is light, and comfortable, I just use the headset with no ear clip and it stays there fine. Sound quality appears to be good when paired with my phone.
Cons:
For the cost, I found these things disappointing. Almost no configuration options. Instructions give you a warning about overcharging the battery, but the LED does not stay on to indicate when the charge is done. The only way to figure it out, is to unplug it, and plug it back in. BTW, I have never seen the indicator green, which is full charge. Output volume does not get high enough. I was riding in the car with my wife and daughter, and could not hear the phone conversation over the road noise. I had to DC the headset and hold my phone right to my ear. 2-3 hour battery life while in use is disappointing. People don't buy devices like these unless they spend a lot of time using them, like more than 2-3 hours. Sound quality is horrid with computer applications such as Ventrillo. I did not expect it to be recording artist quality, but I sound like I'm talking through a 1980's loudspeaker. Again, no configuration options available for me to experiment with. For a $60 headset, they could have done better.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2011I've tried a dozen BT headsets and this is the only one that is COMFORTABLE in my ear. I've had all the other ones that use an ear loop/hook and they always hurt after wearing them for a bit. The new eargels on the Extreme fit very nicely and I barely notice its there. I did have to adjust it the first time because I wanted to make sure it wouldn't fall out and I guess I over did it as it started hurting the inside of my ear from the pressure. It really doesn't need to be "jammed" in your ear for it to say, I realized. The rubber "finger" pretty much makes sure it doesn't fall out so as long as you place it so it doesn't jiggle, it will stay.
The audio quality is loud and good.. although it does pick up on other sounds.. like when I'm typing and talking on the phone, it will pick up the keystrokes. I've had headsets that didn't do this but then again, they were also very low in volume to where the person I was talking to couldn't hear me too well.
Hearing the media sounds through the headset is a pretty cool feature as well. I didn't like it at first because I wanted to be able to hear my phone "notify" me when there's email or a txt message. But after using it for a while, I actually prefer to hear it on the headset because I sometimes don't notice the phone notification but I definitely notice when it's on the headset. Now, it's not going to replace an audio headphone for listening to music - the quality is just too poor for that.
The volume buttons are small but it's not like I use them much.. I wish there was a separate mute button though. Instead, you have to push both up and down volume buttons at the same time.
The only other negative I can point out is the one touch dial button. There seems to be a bug or something wrong with it because it doesn't work all the time. This may be a deal killer for some but not a biggie for me as I don't use it. I personally would love to be able to disable it so I can put the headset in my pocket and not worry about accidental dials.
Overall, I think it's an excellent headset.
UPDATE: 10/07/11
I mentioned how I loved hearing the notifications via A2DP on the headset but now I'm going to have to rate this lower because when the headset goes into standby, it turns off A2DP as well. You have to manually restart either the headset or the BT service on the phone to reinitialize the A2DP connection. I miss out on a lot of notifications because of this.
I replaced this one with the Jawbone Icon Thinker model and the A2DP works perfectly.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2014I initially bought a different Jabra Bluetooth headset without realizing it wouldn't work with Windows. I wanted one for use with Cisco IP Communicator softphone, so I bought another model, which was the Extreme. The good news is that it works perfectly assuming you install the included software, which included the drivers to work with IP Communicator, Lync, Skype, Jabber, Avaya, Sametime, and a couple other softphone products. My only complaints would be having to use the largish USB adapter that is always susceptible to get hit versus a micro-plug, not being able to get much volume at all (all mixers set to max and headset volume all the way up), and that the mic doesn't filter out background noise at all (I often have a desk fan on, and people complain it sounds like I'm in a wind tunnel, so I have to turn it off.) Those are really just small gripes though, and I'm happy with the quality and range, so I would recommend them.
