These are my favorite USB flash drives. The shape makes them easy to handle, the 16 GB capacity is a nice size and the usage indicator on the outside lets you know about how much space is available on the drive without connecting it to a computer. I have found the Lexar brand of flash drives to be very reliable and they last a very long time, even under heavy useage.

10$ for an 8GB flash drive isn't bad. Sure, you can find some stuff out there for less, but they're also going to last for less time.

    Pros:
    Great build quality
Handy external e-ink display showing fill %
    Fantastic encryption/file-shredding sotware
    Small, light, cheap

    Cons:
Cap isn't attached to device; can get lost if not careful

All in all, a great purchase for the price, which I would highly recommend!

I like the product very much but I wanted to make the whole 64 GB drive one encrypted vault for my Macintosh. The size limit is 3 or 4 Gb for vaults so one must do many many vaults. I use it mostly as an extra hard-drive for it takes up little space and is very fast.

These drives are junk if you have a mac! When i originally purchased a few of these flash drives i thought they would be great due to the fact that they tell you how much room you have left on the drive. little did i know that they would cause more harm than good. the drives would not show how much room i had used until installing a crapy driver on my mac. the driver ended up causing major problems with my computer and made some of my other flash drives and programs stop working. i eventually figured out the problem and uninstalled the driver. the other issue i faced is the meter on the front stopped working after i formatted the drive to work with mac. two months after using these flash drives they became extremely unreliable and i had to unplug and plug the drive into the usb port multiple times to get them to work. of all the flash drives I've used these were the worst. I've used lexar in the past and I've never had as many problems with there other products than i have with this flash drive. My advice; purchase a different lexar flash drive and avoid this model if at all possible.

It is a good concept, but the directions are not complete and it is not user friendly to encrypt. Had to search for directions on the internet and still couldn't get it to encrypt when the vault was created.

I leave this think in my notebook 24-7... in fact, it has become what I consider the primary drive for the notebook, with the C drive acting as backup. The 64GB of space gives you that ability (the more intrepid may even be inclined to load their O/S right on the thumb drive itself). The encryption software works as advertised, so if you have sensitive files, then by all means use the software... especially if you carry the thumb drive with you all the time... losing a thumb drive isn't fun, but when it contains sensitive (maybe even private such that you've just violated privacy laws... think PHI,PPI), then having that information encrypted can give you Safe Harbor from a legal standpoint. So, in the end, there isn't anything to dislike except maybe, the price. But if that is your hold up, then wait, because you'll know it will come down over time. Otherwise, its time to pull the trigger and add this slick little drive to your arsenal of gadgets. Oh, Yes, the Capacity Meter is much 'cooler' than I thought. I like having that visual notice of how much I have on the drive. Makes you wish they all came that way.

So, Hey, what are you waiting for. Get yourself one. Now. Click the button. Stop reading... really. Come on. Push the Button. OK. Why are you still here? Go. Click. Be Happy. OK Now. Good. You're buying one, right? Cool.

...wha, huh? You're still here? What the heck? I've told you everything I could. Would you just push the button... I mean if you've read this much about a thumb drive, then you're 'IN'. Mentally, you've made the purchase. So, just go now. CLICK the Button. Sorry. Didn't mean to get beeped there. Just don't understand why you're still here reading a rambling, meandering review when you could be celebrating your new Thumb Drive. OK Fine. Does your Mom know you procrastinate? ;-)

Product works fine with my Windows 7 laptop. Price was good - though I noticed I was charged sales tax - a first time ever event for me. On the minus side there were no written directions on how to use the encryption features but you can use the HELP screens. There was no autostart but you can start it by opening the e drive (or whatever drive the Lexar is mounted as) open Secure II folder, open the Windows folder then clicking on SecureII.

I made the mistake of encrypting an important file then got confused as to how to read it back. I suggest you practice first on some dummy file. Fortunately the help screen listed a help phone number, unfortunately the number is obsolete, fortunately there was a message giving the new number. Help folks were competent. Kudos to Lexar for free help. Although it does not matter to me where help is located as long as they are knowlegable I will note it is currently US based.

Disappointed the encrypted storage is only 4 GB; that is not mentioned in the product description.. Otherwise works okay, just as my older 4GB JumpDrives have so far.
