iMirco optical mouse. I used it with my Acer netbook and it worked fine for a year. My acer netbook stopped working one year to the day I received it as a gift in the mail from Amazon.com. Up to that point it worked so good. Any way i tried to get it fixed but there is no one anywhere that could fix it but they still took my money of 110.00 and it was not fixed and it turned out to be the battery so i tried to get a new battery but the one i got form a battery replacement company sent me out the wrong size so had to return the battery which was the size for a minuature something did not fit. so now since the acer does not work i put the mouse away and got a new computer and had to get a new mouse because the old one did not work with my new dell. :(
i recommend the optial mouse for anyone that needs one the price is right and it lasts a long time but don't forget to get a recharger because it needs 2 AAA batteries to run it.

Let's start by being honest: this is a cheap cordless mouse. Some things (like you need two AAA batteries and that you need to keep the wireless dongle plugged in even when you are using the wired connection--so you need two usb slots, as pointed out by another reviewer) aren't very obvious when you open up the package. It does actually come with a set of insturctions, but they are sort of hidden away in the packaging and I almost threw it away, which do point out these things--but they are very rudimentary and not especially easy to follow.

All in all, though, it is very functional given the price. Once you put the batteries in, it works responsively when you plug in the dongle. It is a bit jittery and may take some getting used to. Unlike what another reviewer said, it doesn't seem to require resyncing every time you turn on the computer. (The resyncing instructions are rather confusing to follow, as they were clearly not written by someone with much experience writing in English. But I have not had to resync just yet.)

One thing to keep in mind is that the range of the thing is pretty limited. Probably no more than couple of feet from the dongle and the mouse no longer works.

Edit: So, right after I posted a positive review, the dongle just got stuck in the slot in the mouse. There is a button on top of the mouse that is supposed to release the dongle (you can see it doing something when you open up the mouse), but the bottom line is it doesn't work (at least on mine) and you need some kind of tool to pry the thing out. If you could help it, just tape the darn slot shut and don't bother putting it in.

Edit #2: It turns out that you can't just tape the slot shut because, apparently, the mouse turns itself off when you plug the dongle into the slot. If not, the thing stays on and the battery will drain itself very fast, presumably. So, you do have to remove the dongle and plug it into its rightful place every time you are done using it. But there is no convenient way to pry the dongle loose from the slot...so what to do? The solution that I came up with was to make a "handle" that you could pull using some electrical tape. I don't know how long this would last, but it seems to work for now. (One alternative to this, apparently, is to remove the batteries after each use, which seems to do the same trick.) All in all, I think it's a pretty decent product for its price, but there are some glaring poor design issues that are annoying.

Edit #3: There are some very sharp metal parts on the inside. You want to be careful. Overall, I'd be tempted to give it a little bit more than just 3 stars--it is fairly decent and cheap. But there are enough weird quirks and design flaws that it definitely doesn't deserve four stars. (However, I would seriously consider buying another, if only for the price-usability combination, especially since I figured out most of the quirks, I think...)

This device works like a charm, but comes with no instructions. There is a button on top, a button on the bottom, a door in the back, and a hard-to-notice button on the receiving device in the USB port.

It can be used left or right handed, and comes with a wire connection that can be used on either side, but works best on the USB side. The wire rolls up for convenient storage. The arrow seems to move too far for a little bit of hand movement, and there seems to be no way to adjust this.

I couldn't make mine work at all at first, but just before I was preparing to throw it away, I readjusted the batteries and pressed all the buttons, and then discovered the USB receiver button, and after having pressed something, a light came on, and it has worked ever since.

I now randomly press everything I can see before I put it away, until the light goes off. It would have been so much better if there had been a single sheet enclosed to say what the buttons are for.

When I first received this Mini-Mouse I liked its packaging. But then came inserting the batteries and activating it. First of all, I tried the USB connector. It DID NOT work. So, I then popped out the receiver and put it into a USB port on my netbook. It took some experimentation, but by pressing the startup button on the USB receiver unit and then the connect button on the bottom of the mouse I had a functioning mouse. It seemed convenient to store the receiver in the mouse and it was relatively small.

Then things went further downhill in my opinion of the unit. First of all, the button that is used to eject the USB receiver is not "protected". Thus, when you put the unit in a bag, the receiver pops out and the batteries die. So, I went to stowing one battery out of the mouse and then inserting it when I wanted to use the mouse. Finally, the button in the USB receiver twisted in the unit and I could not get it activated. When I got home I used an eyeglass screw driver to twist the button back into place. It now does not function even with pressing the USB receiver button AND the connect button on the bottom of the mouse.

So partial functionality has now been replaced by NO FUNCTIONALITY AT ALL. I cannot recommend this item to anyone.
