Worked for a while then crapped out. Won't hold a charge. When it was working the small smooth scroll wheel is difficult to maneuver. Wish there was something this size that actually worked.

I belong to these people who cannot operate efficiently the touch pad on a laptop! I simply cannot, I fail. To be effective in a conference presentation, a pocket mouse is a necessary accessory. The most portable wireless mouses are too big to be called a "pocket version," and the discharging battery clearly is also an issue.

As soon I spotted the SMK-Link micro mouse on a shelf at one of the Fry's stores, I researched the company first, because it was unknown to me. SMK is apparently from Japan, albeit the mouse itself is "Made in China"! Unavoidable these days, as it seems. Maybe our lawmakers will issue a law, that at least one small shelf with goods "not from China" must be preserved in every store? Thank you very much.

First observation was that the mouse size feels right. It is tiny indeed, yet still well usable. Due to its diminutive size it will even work on an aircraft table, or it can be taken in a shirt pocket to any meeting or a conference. However, the high gloss black plastic makes the mouse a bit too slippery for my taste, and every thinkable fingerprint is visibly deposited on it. I wish the mouse would be semi-gloss...

I connected it as instructed to the computer to charge battery. A solid red LED indicates the charge, which should take no more than 1 hour. At the end of 4th hour the LED was still red, hm... I realized than what the terse manual says: The computer should not go to sleep while charge is in progress. So I disconnected the mouse from the dormant PC and connected to mine. To my surprise, the LED went instantly green, indicating full battery! I connected it back to the other PC, LED went back to red. Something is not quite well working here...

Note also that at the beginning one has to press a button on the docking dongle, and than a similar button on the mouse itself to pair the mouse with the docking dongle. Very cumbersome, and often the mouse will not start to work. Once mouse and dongle are paired, the mini mouse tracks well, and except for the jerky pairing connection process, all would up for an enthusiastic 5-star report, but... Shucks! There is another substantial but: The wheel is so slippery, that I cannot turn it without accidentally depressing it. Thus the mouse operations are quite impacted in the practice. All fails on a poorly designed wheel. This is a pity, because

    a) the uniquely miniature size, and
    b) the rechargeable battery with a magnetic docking

are both precisely the ingenious features I was waiting for. Let me recount the "felonies":

    a) Minus: The mouse is too slippery for my fingers and skin, leaves nasty finger prints,
    b) Minus: The wheel is way to slippery, I constantly depress it by mistake when I try to navigate,
    c) Minus: Start of work is a hassle because one has to press the tiny button on the dongle, and than quick another one on the mouse. One needs to repeat this process over and over again, what a drag...

Compact, simple to use, and with a sturdy build (so far as I can tell). The charge lasts fairly long and does not take too long to charge (considering the longevity of each charge). Ergonomics are a bit clunky, but this is expected with its parsimonious design. I would recommend this travel mouse for those who want a straightforward compact design, easy to use when traveling, and at a reasonable price.

This is by far, the best mouse I have ever had. And believe you me, I have had a lot of them because I am a technology implementation consultant, and travel a lot doing presentations and working onsite in temporary cubicles / workstations at clients' facilities.

I first purchased this mouse about 3 years ago at Fry's, and it lasted for 2 whole years until I smashed it accidentally while travelling. I kept going back to Fry's to purchase another one, but they never got them back in stock. I finally found it on Amazon, and now have another of these treasures! I will purchase another for backup in case they are discontinued. You know how it always goes...you find something you love, and it gets discontinued :-)

Pros: 1) compact/small, 2) does not require batteries (charges via USB (to electrical outlet or computer), 3) holds a charge for days, and 4) well made, and lasts years.
Cons: None for me. However, you have to like a really small mouse....for some people, it might take some time to get used to.
Bottom Line: For me, this is the best mouse ever, so I will continue to buy them as long as they are being made.

Never worked, right out of the box. I disposed of it and replaced it with a travel model from Logitech, they make good stuff.
