Product Description

Cabela's North American Adventures gives players the opportunity to experience North America's greatest hunts in over twenty prime hunting locations across the continent. It introduces fresh touches that hunters will appreciate, including a custom gun builder that allows players the ability to create thousands of gun options with a variety of receivers, stocks, barrels, and scopes. The game also capitalizes on the popularity of hunting shows and online videos by adding a cameraman into gameplay - to get compelling footage, hunters need to be at their best! Plus, new Arcade-style Top Shot shooting galleries add to the fun, where you can collect power-ups to enhance your abilities and score big points. Last year's hit Wii title Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2010 introduced the Top Shot hunting peripheral, and now Cabela's North American Adventures further integrates it by adding head-to-head multiplayer and refining the arcade-style gameplay to make it even more action packed. Game is also compatible with the Top Shot Elite controller for Wii (sold separately).

This is a tough game, but a lot of fun for the whole family to be involved in. I had to laugh as my teenage son and my husband apparently switched roles in the teaching arena. While my husband has some hunting knowledge, his video game knowledge is pretty limited to football games. My son, who has NO hunting knowledge, just naturally knows what to do in all video games (it's like that's one of the vaccinations they give to newborns now?). He tried hard to guide his dad and would end up getting quite frustrated when ole' dad wouldn't listen to his wisdom. Reminded me of 3rd grade homework days.
It was fun to try to track the animals together and to freak out when they attack you (sounds wholesome, right?)out of nowhere.

The controls lag. The make-a-movie aspect is not explained well enough to know how to get a high score. Big trophy tournament doesn't reward you with anything once you get all trophies for an animal. The controls take some patience, but they do not hinder fun if you are a student of the game.

There are many modes, and all are fun. The weapons are accurate. The animal sounds are impressive. The topo radar is very cool. The landscapes are detailed and expansive. Weapon upgrades are numerous and noticeable.

Cabela's is not up to par with other first person shooters, but it offers a unique and fun experience for those gamers who like the outdoors and are ok with acknowledging that someone kills the animals we eat.

This game is a great fun and I love to play whenever I get the chance. However, it could get five stars if there would not be any video restrictions in the game. The video shooting makes this game relatively less interesting.

I was so excited to get this game. But when I started playing it, I found it all you're doing is basically filming the "season premiere" of the North American Adventures show. I mean literally filming, before some hunts you have to film the deer & get it perfectly in frame with the camera, then after the hunt they want you to film the animal getting shot, I'd rather have more hunting time then playing with a camera. There is a lot of unnecessary dialogue, which you can't skip either. You have to complete the "mission" that they tell you to do. You can't just choose to go on a hunting adventure, I was VERY disappointed about this. The only hunting options are building your career (filming the show), a big game timed tournament, or a hunter free for all timed mini game (they control where you go & how long you stay in one spot) or a shooting prairie dog mini game. Also the controls for walking around aren't the greatest. While walking to a checkpoint if you come across a rock or a branch on the ground you can't jump over it. So you'll be trying to get to your destination and basically hit an invisible wall until you figure out what blocking you and try to maneuver around it, and it gets to be annoying when you're on a timed hunt or trying to stay hidden from deer. Overall, I'm disappointed with the game.
