4 Play Modes: Turn His Trunk to Control the Fun

Whether you've got a baby on his bottom or a toddler on her toes, this elephant toy has 4 unique play modes to keep the fun popping. Simply turn his trunk to control the fun. Each mode keeps your little one busy no matter what stage they are at; sitting up, standing, crawling, or walking.

1. Put 'n Take Play Turn the trunk toward the elephant's green arm to make the ball drop into his belly. This is a great mode for little ones who are just learning to sit up.

2. Continuous Cycling Turn the trunk toward the elephant's orange arm to make the balls cycle back through the popper on their own. This mode can be fun for kids who are just at the sitting or standing stages.

3. Chase-Me Play Point the trunk forward to send all of the balls flying all over the room and encourage your child to get up and grab them! Turn to this mode to help encourage crawling or walking.

4. Random For even more surprises, turn the trunk to the center for an unpredictable combination of the other 3 modes.

Hasbro’s Fundamental Mission

Hasbro’s fundamental mission is to bring joy and play to children and their families around the world. But for some children, play can be challenging. For children with a developmental disability, play isn’t always accessible out of the box, relegating countless toys to the back of the closet or the donation bin. But more importantly, the joy and benefits that play can bring, and the connection between peers, siblings and other generations, may be lost.

A passionate group of Hasbro employees from across the company, believing we could do more, came together to team up with The Autism Project—a long-term philanthropic partner of the Hasbro Children’s Fund—to figure out a way to help. The team learned that teachers and occupational therapists often create their own supportive play tools out of Hasbro toys, which can help provide critical structure for the way that children manipulate concepts to understand play.

Hasbro ToyBox Tools was created to provide that structure through a series of tools, rooted in evidence-based and emerging best practices. The instructional videos, printable materials, and playmats are designed to help families, caregivers, and teachers unlock the power of play and to make playtime more fun and enjoyable at a child’s own pace. ToyBox Tools recognizes that parents and caregivers know their children best and encourages them to use their judgment in selecting the product and level appropriate for their child.

Our 1 year old twins love this toy!

Our 1 year old twins love this toy!
Our 1 year old boy/girl twins love this elephant toy. I bought it for them as their birthday gift. I disagree with the other reviewer that this toy is loud - we have plenty of other toys that are MUCH louder. This is not at all that loud. Also, the sound is on for a short period of time - my husband said that he thinks it should play longer than it does. Our twins have not yet reliably understood that they need to touch the red ball on the hand of the elephant in order to get it to play the various sounds again. I guess volume control would be a nice feature, but it really isn't that loud and doesn't say on long enough to be obnoxious. Then again, I don't get annoyed that quickly from baby toys. Our twins love this and seem to share with it just fine. Probably the one downside is that they put parts from other toys (like their shape sorter toy) into the snout of the elephant so when some balls don't come up, I check the snout to see if they put other toys in there that shouldn't be in there. Sometimes they also try to put their hands down in the green section, through the hole, to get to the toys in the pouch in the front of the elephant. Fortunately, they don't get their hands stuck and they seem to understand that balls go from there into the pouch so I guess they're learning something ;) They sometimes also take the balls from this toy and try to put them in their shape sorter toy. We've actually used this as a distraction device because they both love it that well. Tonight, one of the twins tried to turn off the tv while we were watching it so we leaned over and touched the red button on the elephant and both twins immediately scrambled over to get to the elephant. Overall, I'd consider this product a win and I feel like we are certainly getting our money's worth out of it as our twins love it and play with it multiple times throughout the day. I did see at Toys 'R Us that they had a chart with this toy shown for 9 month olds. The text for this also shows 9 months plus. Our twins are a year old and love this. I don't know if they'd be bored with a few months from now or not. The other reviewer commented that her child showed minimal interest and was 14 months old so maybe that would be around the age where they'd developmentally be interested in other toys?

This elephant shoots the ball out his trunk, when you drop it in his left ear with a strong gush of wind, which is started by pushing the red button.. You can turn the trunk to return the ball in his left ear and pop back up, to shoot in his right ear and land in the collection area below, or to do either or randomly. However, ometimes it just sits on on the top and you or baby has to recirculation it. This isn't a bother, because most likely your baby has put his or her hand on the top and blocked it, or picks it up to lick it....The music is circus type, 2 songs I believe or the sound of the wind mechanism. THIS IS A LOUD TOY! It is lots of fun, and my grandson likes you to hold the trunk toward his face so the air streams on him. It's summer so if you have air conditioning it's refreshing. As the adult you want to keep the balls circulating , as it's entertaining, if baby will let you! It takes December cell batteries ( I think ).

My baby is only 6 months old, and she loves her elephant! I was worried that it'd be too loud based on previous reviews, but I'd say you'd have to have a really sensitive little one for the sound to bother him or her. It plays cute circus music while it's on, and it runs less than a minute before shutting off so that you can start again if you'd like. I also read other reviews that complained the balls shot out all over the place, but we don't have that problem. Occasionally the balls will miss the ear, but that's part of the fun for the kids: watching and collecting the balls! I'm a teacher, so when I think of educational value, I automatically think about reading/writing/vocabulary; while it doesn't necessarily teach those areas, it is AWESOME for hand/eye coordination! My little girl loves trying to catch the balls as they come out and will hover over the trunk trying to grab the balls. Very fun toy overall!

From the mind of an 11 month old - Hi mommy and daddy, are you watching a show? Let me just press this red button. What? I can't hear you? Is this distracting you from your show? Don't worry it only plays for a little bit. See, there it's done. Oh no, the ball didn't blow out. Better press the button again. Pay no attention to my maniacal giggle, I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm cute though, right? You find my antics adorable and you can't help yourself. Why are you watching Law and Order anyway? There goes the ball. Good job elephant! Hope the ball doesn't get stuck again. Holy crap! The ball landed in the ear and now it's back in the trunk. Is this accurate elephant anatomy? Okay, I'll just press it one more time. The show is nearing the climactic ending? Just one more press. It is hard to resist.

The ball popper will go down as on of the most beloved toys of this generation. I like this one better than the regular one that is not animal shaped. I think it's more attractive. The balls can pop up and go either in the right side (as you're facing it) and go back into the popper. Or the left side, where they fall down to the belly. Plays fun music that isn't overly annoying. Has a volume switch off too. My 1 year old loves to push the big red ball and stand above this while it blows his face. He hasn't figured out where he needs to put the balls yet. He just likes to set the on the trunk and watch them float, not put them in the ear so they can pop up. Great fun, if we can keep track of the balls!

This toy caught my eye because it is fairly cute but mostly because I bought it on a very good sale during the Winter holidays. I try to stay away from giant plastic toys but my oldest son had a ball poppin toy 12 years ago, so I went for it.

Let me start this review by stating this is a very dangerous toy. I'm surprised that there have been no lawsuits from babies and toddlers breaking their legs. Or perhaps mine is extra creative? Doubtful. The worrisome location is the hole in the purple ear area of Elefun. If your child tries he will easily be able to get his foot stuck in the hole. I don't mean a little stuck either, I mean showing up at the ER with a giant plastic elephant attached to your screaming toddler's leg stuck. This is no fun. You'd think the baby would stop trying to do this, but you would be wrong.

Please don't jump on your high horse and claim my tot lacks supervision either. Supervision with Mr. Elefun is no fun. "No no, don't put your arm in the hole" "no no, not your leg either" "Little People are not balls, do not stick them in there" "oh no, now a block is stuck in Ele and he can't play until Daddy fixes him" "Oh crap, your leg is stuck this time!".....it goes on and on for Elefun's short life until you realize the batteries aren't dead, the elephant is - after less than a year of play. Sure he took a beating, but what toddler toy doesn't?

I really regret this purchase and will certainly not consider buying another to replace or gift.
