      I purchased this unit from Amazon in 2010 and the unit itself works well BUT...... Our credit card had renewed with a new expiration date and we chose not to renew the unit and service was shut off in fall of 2013. We tried to reactivate the unit in May of 2014 and was told that it was SIMBLOCKED or bricked. Evidently you must keep paying the $179 per year and if you have a time period that you don't want to have it active you are basically screwed. Now I have a worthless device that we paid $289 USD for and our investment is gone. They may be #79 on Canada's fastest growing companies but this is a crappy business model. There are other companies out there and this one won't receive one dime of my $$$ Purchasers of their products beware!!!

      I'm on my 3rd devise and this one is working great. the first 2 had battery issues. Evidently they upgraded the software but didn't bother changing it on the units they were selling from stock.
      My experience with escort entourage and blackline gps customer service has been a nightmare. At blackline customer service they send you over to tech support that tells you to just return and they'll credit your credit card. They didn't even attempt to trouble shoot the problem until I made a request to a high power. If you get transferred to tech support, just give up it's not worth the aggravation. Unreal.
      I'd definitely research other products, I wish I had.

      I just found the exact same thing on Ebay from eclectic_mart@yahoo.com for $189, free shipping! Called Amazon and they said they will not match the price but will allow me to return it. Sorry, Amazon, I've placed my order and am sending the Amazon one back. Amazon is always a few dollars higher but worth it. This is the first time I've found such a huge discrepency and I will remember to double check Ebay in the future!

      I've had it for a couple days now. The battery only lasted a day or two and takes a long time to charge. So I paid Best Buy $100 to have it hard wired directly to the battery in the car my 16 year daughter is using (and my 14 year old son is lusting after). I thought of just clipping the car charger plug off and wiring it myself to the car wiring. Luckily, I did not try this as the plug contains a resistor. The proper way is to buy a female plug that you wire (either always on or just on when the vehicle is on) and permenantly plug the male end into it. Best Buy did a great job of hiding it.

      The couple days I've had it has tracked great! It will show the position every ten minutes or you can get continous tracking for ten minute intervals. It show location, speed and direction of the vehicle.

      It's pricey at $300 plus $180 for on-line tracking. But after reading all the problems with the competing device, I am very glad I bought this one so far.

      It has an arm function that is supposed to alert you by email and by text message to your cell phone if the car is moved. It can be armed from the computer after the car is supposed to be home for the night. This function is not currently functioning on my unit. I emailed tech support today and hope to follow-up here if they respond.

      The arm function is great for kids that might make a unauthorized copy of the key and sneak out for a midnight joy ride (not that we parents ever did that - smile).

      But even if the arm function does not work, I can always have the website plot where the car has been for the last day or for several days and pick up any unauthorized activity.

      I think it's cheap for the peace of mind of knowing where my kid and the car are and how fast they are driving!

      I have no problem recommending this product. It has worked as advertised and met all my expectations. The pricing is a little high, but as I've learned (read my Zoombak disaster) you get what you pay for. I keep this device in an enclosed trailer for some added security, and when the battery gets low, you are notified. You have unlimited locates, and the shock and perimeter functions work flawlessly as well.

      I bought this device just in case my Acura TSX is stolen and to get the Insurance discount. Now true has to be said, it works fine the first two months and a half; after that, it has been a nightmare. The device kept login on and off of the network all the time. I called tech support several times and they keep blaming the signal. Now unless there is no signal in Virginia, Maryland and DC as of two months ago, then this device is useless to me and anybody living in the DC Metro Area. The 2nd tear of tech support is supposed to call me back to help me with it, let's see how that goes.
      This device as far as I know, uses AT&T Network, which by the way in the area where I live has good coverage.
      If you are planning to spend US$300.00 on this device, I would suggest to look for a different device, because you will be sorry if you do so.

      When this device does work, it takes about 2-3 minutes to locate your car using your iPhone application or from your computer. You can also "schedule location", like every 30 minutes, every 1 hour, 2,3 hours Etc. It uses google map to show the location of you vehicle, which is very accurate.
      It's not a big review, but I hope it helps you make an inform decision.

      I've received a replacement unit 4 days ago. Let's see how it goes.
