A perfect entry level card for those on budget and playing LoL

A perfect entry level card for those on budget and playing LoL
I bought this card for a friend who needed something to play League Of Legend (LoL) to upgrade from his dire intergraded graphic (nVidia 9100 chipset) Came in the usual XFX small box. Had the usual CD and other manual. It also has a warranty card. I would strongly suggest making an account through XFX so that way you can registered the product for the limited life time warranty. The card is a fairly small full size card (this is not low profile) with minimal wattage drain. This card would be an ideal solution to adding in a 'beefier' card into an prebuilt computer ( such as an HP, Dell, Gateway, etc) without having to upgrade the power supply in the process. Usually they run a typical standard 300watts power supply. Just keep in mind that you do need the power supply to have a minimal of 22A on the 12v rail. I tested this card very briefly as again it was for a friend, but the card did perform pretty decent for what it was (and the price for what it is). It has DirectX11 support, but the card is simply too slow to really put to use the DirectX11. It will seem to play older game titles pretty fine at modest and reasonable settings. I've tested this card on L4D2 playing at most settings at medium/low pretty good. Noticed though when there's a lot of graphical effects such as smoke, lighting, the card will take a pretty hard performance hit. Most times limited due to bandwidth of the memory interface only being 64-bit (check my GPUz picture). Keep in mind there are others GT430 running 128-bit memory bandwidth instead, so those cards will give a much better performance gain. League of Legends (LoL) was pretty smooth (easy 50+ FPS) on all high settings @ 1650X1050 with shadows off during a test run with moderate combating Didn't test it when there was a big battle. I tried to run Saint Row 3, but barely could play at the lowest settings. Not Surprised. Tested this on E6300 stock and 2GB of ram. Your performance rating would be different with a faster processor and more ram. Overall this card fit the bill in both performance and price.

I was looking for a cheap card to replace my years old nvidia 8800GT which finally went kaput. At $5 AFTER rebate, this fit the bill. That's right, XFX and Amazon went nuts for a day or two last month and put this on sale for $34.99 with a $30 rebate. So let's hope it comes through as promised.

    System Specs

    AMD64X2 5600+(Running Vista Home Premium32)
    3 gigs RAM
    GT430
    22in monitor (1680X1050)

After not having any sort of graphics solution for my desktop in over a month, this card has not disappointed. Easy to install and set up, and my computer is once more an HD capable, super budget gaming machine. Testing the card with Cooliris first thing, without this card photos loaded slowly, the program ran slowly and with stutters, and photos were slow to completely render once chosen. With the GT430 the program runs fast and smooth. Completely glitch free. Colors pop on my desktop, photos look great, and HD plays smoothly and without artifacts. Great!

Games? Well, I don't really play many but have a few loaded up on an old Steam account. This card will play games well depending on the requirements of said game and / or its age. I watched vids on youtube of this card in action and felt confident it could play any of my games I might want to dust off and throw at it. So I dusted off a few and got fast, seamless game play from L4D & L4D2, Dead Space, COD4MW, and Amnesia. All at 1680X1050, max settings, and a bit of AA. So, thats not bad. And the games look better then ever as this card brings out the best in the visuals. It's not a card to play newer games at hi res and "maxed out," but if playing on a lower res screen or setting (1280X720-1440X900, for instance) you should do ok with newer games, even if you need to adjust some settings down. And with the right processor, decent performance should be attainable. And everything else graphics related this card handles well, also. Paired with a good monitor and its all any user should need for good photoshop work and video editing when color accuracy matters. This card clearly fits that bill, as well as being great at multimedia applications. Windows Media Center just flies, and everything looks brilliant.

So, hope this provides a decent overview of this card and it's capabilities. So far it seems to outperform my old 8800GT on older games, and everything looks great. My Windows "Gaming Graphics" score dropped .5 points, as did the "Desktop Performance" for Vista. But honestly who pays that crap any mind, anyway? Card performs well for my purposes and that's all I care about for my $5

And at that price it's a steal even if it just played Peggle! Seems regular price is around $60, give or take. IMO it's worth every penny even at that price.

I myself own a superior Card, but in general, this card can handle most of the work thrown at it. I'm not convinced it could run Battlefield 3 or anything, but It would likely run most games except the most recent games. Runs very quietly, no issue of loud, obnoxious fans that drown out the room, with proper heat distribution.

Great price with rebate/discount, though I might not pay 70~ for it regularily. (Though I did, couldn't be bothered to send in for the Mail in Rebate, But that is more or less my fault.)

I received this item faster than what I expected which made me even happier. I installed it on my HP p6130y and used an HDMI cable to my TV. Picture looks awesome and sound is pretty good. I am planning on getting a sound bar for my tv later anyway just because I like to hear clearer, but for an average person it would sound fine. I haven't tried it out on an extreme game yet but from what I have experienced with it so far, I would recommend this for the price!
