    McAfee is very efficient these days, be it in efficient background run or in total security. It has blended with important browsers and gives us protection even while browsing and running efficient scan. I have been using this for more than 5 years now and have always seen the product improving and eliminating its deficiencies, have never came across virus attack considering the amount of online activity I do round the clock. CD pack is very cheaper as well for a year's license of 3 PCs where you can download online as well, provided we store the product key that comes with CD pack. This product is very highly recommended and I don't see any competitor providing such an efficient product for low cost for 3 PCs.

    I tried McAfee on numerous occasions and just don't care for it.

    More accurately, I don't care for McAfee's policies of forcing me to register and, with an earlier version, putting me into an auto-renew program which led to unexpected credit card charges.

    In terms of actually detecting viruses, McAfee did no better than Norton, Microsoft Essentials or several other commercial or free anti-virus programs. My own personal favorite is BitDefender.

    McAfee seems to take a toll on system resources. Not as bad as Norton, but more than BitDefender and Microsoft.

    The worst part of McAfee are the annoying and seemingly endless stream of pop-ups. Every event, no matter how minor seems to spawn one or more pop-ups. It left me with the feeling that McAfee wants to convince users that it is working really hard instead of doing its thing silently in the background.

    And when it comes to renewal reminders, McAfee nags, nags, nags, nags and nags to the point where I wouldn't renew simply out of spite for being nagged at so much.

    Overall, McAfee works. But I prefer BitDefender.

    I've been using McAfee products for several years with no problems, but they really let me down with this last update.
    I updated McAfee 2010 with McAfee Total Protection 2011 a few weeks ago. It shut down my internet access and LAN. My tech support guy initially thought I had a virus, but after two days of trouble-shooting he found that it was a bad update from the McAfee software. It had loaded a bunch of bogus services in the start-up. It cost me $120 to have the computer repaired. My tech guy recommends Microsoft Security Essentials, which is free, along with running MalwareBytes and Super Anti-Spyware once a week, also free. He said he's run into this same situation with other clients loading McAfee 2011. So far these free services are working fine. Maybe it was a fluke, but I wasn't willing to risk trying to re-load McAfee. As a small business owner, I can't afford to have my computer out of commission. I will not use McAfee again.

    I had internet security 2010 on my computer and it was running smoothly but recently I upgraded it to total protection 2011.
    The total protection 2011 is not compatible with Mozzila Firefox and it would not allow data to be received and sent. The page used to sit there and never loads up. Therefore I changed my browser with Google Chrome and now the speed is higher and not experiencing the same problem as with Firefox.
    All together, of my experience with McAfee total protection is a little slow and if you are going for McAfee(the reason I chose McAfee was because it was the cheapest), go for Internet Security instead of total protection which uses less resources and is as good.

    If you would have asked me 3 years ago what I thought about McAfee I would have said "I hate it" and yet to this day I here people say the same thing. But now I realize many of them say it out of ignorance and I believe that have not used McAfee 2011 version. Before McAfee I used Kaspersky and I found it to be a great product also and blocked many antivirus programs and the only reason I switched was because I always like to try new programs. So I decided to give McAfee a try and I gotta say I like it as much if not more then Kapsersky Internet Security.

    The thing that I like about McAfee is that it has a very simple interface and is very light on my system. I never even have to think or worry about it since it does everything in the background. Even when it runs its weekly scheduled scans I do not even noticed it since its so light. Before I used to use free antivirus programs such as AVG and Avast but it never seemed to protect my computer from viruses as good as McAfee has. I have also found that I get more calls from customers who use programs such as AVG and Avast than customers who use paying antivirus programs.

    Many of the comments on here with people complain about McAfee are either from people who have not tried the latest version and decided to speak out against McAfee just because it has become the popular thing to do or have decided to instal McAfee on a computer that is already infected with viruses. Because I have not had one problem installing McAfee on any computer and I have done numerous installations on both old and new PC's with no problem.

    Mcafee total protection is a good software to protect your computer but you have to be patient and take a full day to download the software. after some bumps in the roads, was easy to download, the price was lower than the single download version of Mcafee better to purchase 3 user version which I will be doing next time for 2012. there doesn't seem to be any clear instructions of what to do or how to download the software for those of us who have done this the first time. keeping my fingers crossed for 2012 Mcafee Total Protection.one down side , updates (good thing) but usually upgrades when I am in the middle of doing something online, have to turn off computer etc,etc. otherwise I would recommand this software.
