Product Description

Unfazed by the scientific age, pashmina shawls are hand spun the same way it has been done for centuries. The hairs are gathered from the Himalayan goat called Hircus, which lives at high altitudes, 12 to 14000 feet in the mountains. The Pashmina is gathered by hand, stored and combed by nomadic herders. The threads are hand woven on hand looms over a silk wrap, which gives the fabric resilience. Once the fabric is loomed, each piece is hand dyed in open vats. Afterwards it is given to the different craftsmen for hand-embroidery, beading and /or printing. They are very soft and luxurious in feel. These shawls are woven from the best quality of Pashmina Wool and Silk. These shawls can be worn as a wrap or a scarf. The size is 80 inches long and 36 inches wide and each shawl is finished with 2 or 2.5 inches long tassels. The fabric comprises of approximately 70% Pashmina Wool and 30% Silk . The combination of pashmina wool and silk makes the fabric versatile and resonating with color. The shawls are hand loomed in Nepal and India and are offered in a wide selection of vibrant colors. We recommend dry cleaning.

I orderd two and gave one as a gift. I did not get a great first impression from this shawl. This does not have a silky texture it's more a merino wool feel. It's not bad or unpleasant but it is something to be aware of. Also the shawl had a very chemical smell right out of the package but I just fluffed it in the clothes dryer for a few minutes and it was fine. I do love the monster size and warmth of this thing but I wonder what it will feel like in the summer when I wear it with warm weather clothes. It's great right now over long sleeved tops during this cold Minnesota winter. So, even though I would have to consider this kind of a knock off pashmina I may order again because all in all, I do like it and you can't beat the price.

Lovely shawl that is quality material for a bargain price. It arrived about four days after I ordered it, even with standard shipping. It is not as thick as it appears in the pictures but, unless you're in an arctic environment, it's plenty warm and thick, especially if you plan to wrap or knot it into specific styles (any thicker and it wouldn't knot properly). It's very soft and comfortable. Also, it's advertised as pashmina but is 70% pashmina wool, 20% silk, and 10% rayon, according to the label. But I have sensitive skin and it does not itch, etc.

The colors are slightly different than what is pictured on the website, since each is hand-dyed. I ordered two: wine and charcoal grey. Wine is more red than burgundy and the charcoal grey has a very slight bluish tint when turned certain ways but still within the color range I expected.

I am very happy with both and will order more should I need more colors.

I was researching a future trip, and on one of the websites it recommended a pashmina shawl to travel with. It mentioned that it was very warm and soft, but also large enough to cover like a blanket without the bulk. Intrigued, I started looking. I quickly learned that pashmina shawls were expensive. So the quest began for a cheaper pashmina and ended with this shawl. I have been very impressed! As the travel site said, it was great for traveling! It's also very beautiful, and can be worn with nice dresses as well as everyday winter coat gear. The color was true to the color pictured, but I think it is more more pink than eggplant. Still very lovely, and I am looking to get a second!

Heavier than expected and not nearly as soft as expected so I returned it -which you must do within 2 weeks for a full return. Considering shipping costs to and fro, this was a waste of time and money. I ordered in Khaki Green, and it was not a pleasing shade.

I've started wearing shawls regularly. They add just a smidge of warmth over the shoulders. I always take one to restaurants or other air conditioned venues "just in case". Nothing worse than freezing while enjoying a movie.

The color of this is nice and bright but it doesn't feel much like cashmere. Not really scratchy, just short on dreamy softness. I've tried a few other brands on Amazon and now realize the you just have to feel them to see if the weight and texture is right for what you like.

    Color: VanillaVerified Purchase
I was a bit hesitant buying this shawl. There wasn't much way to see color examples, so I selected a 'safe' vanilla color. I have also seen synthetic shawls marked as Pashmina.
The shawl arrived quickly, and was nicely folded and packed. It is very soft, and light weight. Since cashmere is much warmer than wool the light weight is actually a good thing in my opinion. The fabric is handwoven and as such shows some variation in the weave. I love handwoven fabric, so I did not find this an issue.
The shawl has a lovely drape and hand, and I am seriously thinking about ordering another in a less 'safe' color.
