I was looking for a case that would mostly protect the Kindle at it's corners, whether it is in the Amazon case or not. This case was so inexpensive I wasn't very optimistic when I ordered it. But it fits the Kindle perfectly, no gaps or overstretched areas, and best of all it is on my Kindle while my Kindle is still in the Amazon case. Love that! It gives it a nice grip feel if you want to read with it out of the Amazon case. The holes for the hinges are cut out precisely, the page turn buttons work great and feel good to press. The color is perfect too, it practically disappears once it is on. It is pretty lightweight. I personally don't notice it making it any heavier, but that really isn't a concern for me anyway. Can't go wrong with this extra little bit of protection. I may get a second one as a spare. I haven't tried the screen protectors that came with it, so I can't speak to their quality. Thanks for a well made product at a very fair price.
It fit perfectly with the Kindle, but has a weird texture to the rubber. So when you put it into your purse or hand bag, it picked up all the lint in the hand bag.
The skin is pretty nice. A soft grip, fits snugly and doesn't add too much bulk. It seems like it will hold up well. It doesn't have the little bit between the screen and keyboard, but that's not a huge deal.
Screen protectors are easy to apply and fit perfectly. However, they add glare to the screen. Shipping was as expected, but my tracking never worked. It always showed as unavailable until after the item was delivered.
Overall, I'm happy with this item for the price. It gets the job done.
I purchased this case for use around the house and I was really happy when I put this case on my kindle and it also fit in the hard case I bought for travel. This case fits the kindle perfectly and you are still able to get to all of the buttons, keyboard, on/off button and the speakers are exposed for text to speech and music.
Love the feel of this case. It is soft and comfortable in your hands for long hours of reading.
Someone else mention it picking up lint and dust, but I have not had this issue with mine.
I'm writing this review after taking 15 minutes to try applying the clear screen protector. It took a few tries to figure out how to get it on without air bubbles or fuzzies trapped underneath. I found if I wiped the Kindle with a rubbing alcohol lens cloth and then wiped with the soft yellow cloth provided, blow air lightly across it, it got the screen cleanest. The plastic sheet really fits the screen perfectly, so you better line it up perfectly or if an edge overlaps outside the screen area, an air bubble will be created in the margin that will not go away. With this protective screen, air bubbles look like oil spots on real paper - somewhat annoying while reading. I wasted two of the five sheets trying to apply it - it says they are washable and reusable, but with the stickiness, I don't know how to get a sheet dry after washing without it having fuzzies or water spots. I think the little cover makes the screen glare a little bit more than usual. But if you are rough with items or will be sharing this with rough people, I think the little plastic cover could be indispensable.
The black cover to go over the Kindle slips on easily - it is very stretchy. I believe if it would be over-stretched, it would become saggy or maybe torn, so I think the point is to put it on and not mess with it too much. It really is a perfect fit as far as lining up with everything on the Kindle. It is soft to the touch and smooth, the 'next' and 'previous' buttons are just as easy to push, and it does seem to like to attract lint a little.
Overall, I would say that for the price, this is a great protective investment.
I purchased my Kindle 3 in mid-February. It suddenly started crashing and then rebooting about once a day in late February. It was not after I had talked to an Amazon Customer Service representative in late February that I realized I had installed the Amazon Kindle 3 Silicon Skin Case about the time I started having the rebooting problem.
Early in March, I removed the new case and had no more rebooting problems the rest of March and into April. Just as an experiment, a couple of weeks ago, I reinstalled the Silicone Skin Case and within 3 days I had 3 more uncommanded reboots!
This otherwise nice well fitting Kindle 3 Silicone Skin Case is now collecting dust in a drawer. I did not install the screen protectors. My Kindle 3 had the latest software update before this all started and functions flawlessly without the case installed. Based on my experiences only, I do not recommend this case.
The skin case works just fine, except I wish I had a better idea of what a skin case made of soft silicone would look like, feel like, and smell like. To tell the truth, it stinks.
I like the screen protector that came with it. Although it is not anti-glare, it definitely does not add any more glare.
This is a hefty skin. I imagine it's very protective. (I finally decided to get a skin after breaking my previous Kindle.) It fits very well and looks nice. It has a pleasant feel, as well. There's no noticeable odor at reading distance.
I haven't noticed it gathering dust and hair, as others have. Mine stays pretty clean - just needs a few flicks now and then. Oh boy - unless it builds up static electricity, apparently. I just had a heck of a time getting some hairs off it - they'd snap right back.
If you're used to using your Kindle bare, as I was, the extra weight will be a bit of a shock. I weighed it before and after the skin - 8.2 oz without skin, 11.2 oz with. That's more than a hardback book, at 10.7 oz, and way more than a paperback, at 4.6 oz. Still, it's not anything that will break your arm.
