Strathwood’s take on the time-tested Adirondack chair results in a combination of beauty, convenience, and comfort. Carrying the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, this chair and available matching ottoman (sold separately) are crafted of high-density Brazilian eucalyptus wood that is harvested in a sustainable fashion. The eucalyptus timber is highly sought after for the creation of outdoor furniture due to its strength and natural ability to withstand moisture and heavy use.

Built with luxury in mind, the Strathwood Adirondack chair features a contoured back support, tightly slatted seat, and oversized armrests. For additional comfort and convenience, one of the armrests includes a built-in drink holder. This Adirondack chair requires little assembly, and the chair folds flat for easy storage. This chair is available in two finishes, a dark-brown stain or white painted finish, and can be further accessorized with the available matching ottomans. The Strathwood Adirondack chair measures 33-3/4 inches deep by 27-1/2 inches wide by 36 inches high.

Left untreated, eucalyptus will weather when exposed to the elements, and the finish will fade with time. In addition, when untreated, natural splitting or cracks will appear, but this will not affect the durability of the furniture. To guard against this weathering process and to maintain a desired look, apply coats of a hardwood oil. The frequency of necessary oil applications depends on the intensity of the outdoor elements. The furniture has already been oiled prior to packing, and it is recommended that an oil treatment be repeated at least once a year. Giving the furniture an extra treatment before exposing to rain will prolong the “new” look and ensure a longer life. As with any outdoor furniture, it is recommended to store this piece inside during inclement weather.

    Unfortunately, this chair did not make it safely to my destination. When unpacking the chair I noticed a section of the back was split bad enough I sent it back for a refund. The chair did look very sturdy and I had wished it had made it in one piece. Luckily, I was able to repackage in same box without any problems other than finding someone with a larger trunk space than my car to take to FedEx. Amazon was great in refunding my purchase.

    I bought these chairs at 50% off and glad am glad I didn't pay the full price. They look great on my front porch and are somewhat comfortable to sit in and the cup holder comes in handy. However putting together took a bit of effort and some of my own personal tools (the one's they provide aren't strong enough to get the job done). Directions were easy but one of the arms looks like it has been worn down and the stain looked aweful. Maybe if I buy the teak oil, that could make them look a little better.

    I ordered two of these chairs and two ottomans to complete my back patio project and I can state a few things about them.

    1. They are not perfect. They are built of Eucalyptus wood,not Teak, so if you enter with the knowledge that these are not going to be as dense/smooth as Teak, you'll be fine. They are comfortable and look great. I would recommend oiling them soon after receiving.
    2. They are mass produced so imperfections will exist. These are not built, inspected, deconstructed, and shipped. They are simply cut/stained and boxed for shipping. Both of our chairs were well cut - with some small variations in stain (easily fixed all those that complain about this) and assembled very easily. Took about 5 minutes per chair. There is a mistake in the assembly instructions - but if you're halfway bright, you shouldn't need more than a little guidance here.
    3. You may have to send pieces back. Like I said, they aren't perfect. One ottoman was warped and wobbled after construction. I simply took it back apart and Amazon took it right back at no cost - and sent the replacement via 2 day (Prime rocks) without charging me for the replacement (though got a notice saying they would if they didn't get the original within 30 days).

    All told, I'm very happy with these chairs. Give them a little care, and I would guess they'll give you at least 3-4 seasons of reliable use. Just don't expect a $250 chair. That's not what you're buying here. For a total cost of $140 for an entire set, it's a great deal.

    We did not open the package for a couple of months because it was purchased for our summer cottage. We would have returned it if we had opened it earlier. We are very disappointed in the quality of the product. The stain is uneven, it is not smoothly finished, and there is a jagged slash in one of the back slats. On the plus side, it is comfortable to sit on and folds up - which is handy - but I would not recommend it.

    The second time this chair was used, one of the slats broke in two and then another broke shortly there-after. The chair is definitely not teak - the broken pieces looked like particle board though I don't think it is. If I hadn't thrown out the packaging I would have likely sent it back (depending on the shipping cost). My wife is mad at me for not sending it back, but I don't think it's worth the shipping fee. She wants be to cut it up and burn it, but I think I will replace the slats as they break.
