Product Description

Kneeling chairs are becoming increasingly popular in replacing conventional office chairs. First developed in Northern Europe during the 1970s, an ergonomic kneeling chair encourages you to sit in an open angled position of about 110°, resulting in endless benefits. Kneeling chairs allow your back to readily take its natural form, promote better breathing and blood circulation, and ultimately result in increased energy and concentration.

I've been using this chair since 2009 and it has seriously grown on me. Ironically the year I bought it I took a loan and used part of the money to buy an Aeron. The Aeron is nice, in fact I used them both, one for workout and one for relax. I was always the ironic gym geek (do those exist?). It made so much sense working from home and spending night and day in front of a computer. In college I had a 4ish pack and wanted to get a 6. I did situps with weights on my arms and legs for a couple years. I tried yoga and boom dropped sit-ups completely and got to six. Reading I saw most people with 6 packs lost them when they got busy or had a kid, and working out is tedious and tiring after a long days work. I started spending less and less time in the Aeron and more and more time in the yoga chair.Bam Im at 8 packs strong and havent done any situp reps in 3 years or so. Practicing yoga quite a bit, but even there my abs are crazy strong in boat pose and other ab intensive poses. Stopped working from home and took the chair with me to work as a Software Developer where it usually draws interesting looks and conversations. Recently I bought a new one so I could leave one at work and have the other at home at night. The Aeron is for guests, havent used it in over a year. More comfortable in the yoga chair than the Aeron, and the rocking is very nice. I disagree this is a low quality chair as I've had it for 3 years now and the old one is way more comfortable than the new. The screws have to be re-tightened every so often, but I've had expensive office chairs break more often. This is also easy to move around as office chairs are not portable at all.Highly suggest this chair. If you already have a nice stomach recommended to keep that as the exercise is essentially free. It will take some adjustment, and maybe 2-3 hours a day before switching back to a normal chair, but that's not a huge deal in an 8 hour day. So good luck, 4 stars.

I was very excited when I saw the price for this chair, thinking it would help my back and posture while at work. Well, the chair is one of the worst purchases I've made in my life. I hate it so much!!! How can this thing be listed at $299 and anyone even pay the $59 that I paid?! It's not worth $5. The product comes disassembled (which isn't that big a deal) but the seat cushions had some sort of glue all over them, the instructions were faded and the "paint" on the "mahogany" wood was patchy and scratched. I decided to bring the chair to work to show my co-worker, who has been considering a similar purchase. He sat in it and feared for his future children because the thing kept making cracking noises and wobbled like watermelon on a flag pole. If you are thinking of wasting your money on one of these chairs, don't. Buy a stool and some cinder-blocks instead and raise your desk. You will be much happier.

P.S. The benefits to owning this chair are the awesome alan wrench sleeve under the chair (alan wrench included) and firewood.

I'm a fan of these chairs, but I also tend to be hard on them. When the old one couldn't be fixed again, I decided to order a replacement.

In contrast to my first chair, this new one did not assemble without a significant fight. One initial misaligned threaded hole cost us 30 minutes. But the real killer was another threaded metal hole in the chair seat that was more than half covered with wood. Had to break through the wood to reveal it, then dig the wood out of it (it was completely full). Then threading the screw into this (now empty) hole was nearly impossible, since the hole didn't line up with the two stability peg holes next to it. Not sure if it's going to last as assembled. Really folks, a simple visual inspection would have revealed this defect before shipping.

It looks good on the website and in person. Functionally, the price isn't close to justified. Any furniture that needs to be fully assembled with just a hex key is often a sign that it isn't going to be very sturdy. This is a perfect example. Even constructed of quality materials, when assembled, the chair was wobbly and many of the screws had to be routinely re-tightened. One simple design change would make this chair far more stable. Adding a lateral piece between the knee-pad, or front, section of the chair, like the back, would easily make a more rigid chair and thus less loosening of screws.

They also should do some weight and leg length testing. It is hard to make a one size fits all kneeling chair. It is also important to know the weight limit the chair can tolerate and remain sturdy.

This is my second chair I bought in this style for the office, since the threads eventually stripped on the first one after three years of wear and tear. It is easy to assemble and comfortable. My favorite two things about the chair is having the ability the shift position easily for prolonged sessions on the computer and the fact it slides under the desk for extra space in the den. Cons: I wished it came with glue for extra stability on the cushions, and I wished it came with memory foam in the cushions. It is a comfortable chair, but not for 5+ hours at a time. I love the design for the looks and the kneeling position, and would buy one again if I can still afford it. Similar chairs of the same style are quite expensive.
