The "Viva Piñata" gameplay experience presents a customizable, social and spontaneous world in which gamers play an absolutely crucial role. The world players create is an evolving paradise teeming with fantastic living piñata creatures and vibrant plant life, all determined by the player's choices and actions. "Viva Piñata" boasts the following qualities:
Rare releases their second exciting title for the Xbox 360.

Creating a living garden
It's your very own world. Your choice of contents will determine which of the piñata species are attracted to your world, since they all have individual requirements. Sowing grass, digging ponds, planting flowers and growing trees all affect which of the unique piñatas you will see. It's not just about plants, either; there is a whole range of ornaments and structures that could be decisive. Your reward for creating an appealing paradise is to watch the piñatas visit and eventually reside there, which is where the fun really starts.
Getting to know and understand the personalities and requirements of your piñata is essential if you want them to stay happy and thrive. Make your world their ideal paradise, and they'll want to raise a family and expand your community. Players decide how much help they want from the local guides, shopkeepers and work force. Go it alone or get them involved as you choose. Once you have resident piñatas, you can begin to personalize your loyal community. Piñatas can be individually named and given their own personally designed tag to put on display as a declaration of their home turf. And the customization doesn't end there. You can make the colorful critters more distinctive by customizing them with all kinds of costumes and accessories.
A thriving community awaits
The "Viva Piñata" community is a rewarding place to be, whether you remain within the boundaries of your own world or venture out into the real world or your friend's piñata world via Xbox Live, the first and only global, unified online console games service. Via the Xbox Live online community, players can contact other gamers to lend a hand, lay down a competitive challenge or trade items. Plus, it's not just new piñata species that are drawn to your world; untamed sour piñatas with bad attitudes and troublemaking ruffians do their worst to spoil your creation and must be dealt with. Maintaining harmony within a growing community isn't always easy when rivalries, illness, injuries and even candy-spilling fights occur. If players turn their backs, who knows what their piñatas will do?

- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2012I originally purchased this game when it was first released for the Xbox 360. At the time the only games in my household were FPS and I really wanted a FAMILY game. Turned out that I was the only one playing it at the time since everyone thought it was too childish at the time. Seriously who harvested a garden of pinatas? I didn't listen to them and continued playing, I would play once I got home from work and sometimes usually until after midnight. Took me a lot of hours but I was able to get all the pinatas and beat the game 100% and become a level 80 something gardener. Now fast forward almost 5 years later and my 16yr old daughter who is a tried and true Call of Duty fan picked up the game and started playing and also got addicted. My now 7 year old who plays family games saw her playing and wanted to play as well. Thus the reason for another purchase. Since I still have it on my profile I was able to send the kids tons of cash and even seeds and animals to help out with their garden.
The game is totally addicting once you start playing. It's a 2 player game but the 2nd player is just a helper and not the main gardener. Its a great family game and I'd recommend you keep this one in your collection.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2013Excellent 2 player 10 and under game for kids. Good role play and easy to use fun for entertainment with lots of easy gardening tips and tricks for young who don't have actual garden skills. I found it amusing for my grand daughter and I to compete with our gardens.. saved each time she visited she wanted to play with this game. Great colors and well thought out Game of strategy and even a 3 year old could have fun on this game. EASY GAME. The SOUNDS ARE EXCELLENT and cute critter sounds too! I highly recommend this game for kids unless you don't like the idea of animals or bugs dying .. it does require skills and knowledge of mating, animal carnivore and purchasing power to make the level of the game increase in challenge. But if you don't like these kinds of ideas for kids then you might not like this game. Very innocent type of violence to swat a predatory critter.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2008I was a little concerned this would be too young but when it arrived, my kids weren't home so I tried it myself. At first my fears were realized, as it has a very young feel to it, but once I started working on my garden I really enjoyed it and played for hours. My kids arrived home and soon each had created their own garden. They will play for ages. The graphics are very good and the effects - like a drop of water on the camera lens are really cute. There is skill in keeping a good garden, free of pests and the kids learn they have to work to attract exotic pinatas to their garden. I gave it a 4 because I am now a little bored with it myself and for a 5 it would have to keep me entertained too [smile] but since the kids still love it, it is well worth the $20.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2007At first the game is exciting, you find yourself having fun building pinata house and watching them change colors. Then planting seeds and waiting to watch what they grow into is very interesting. But you find yourself doing the same things over and over. Plant a seed, wait for it to grow, romance a pinata wait for it to hatch and change colors. Then as you progresses and you become a higher gardener then Sour pinata (the bad guys) will come to your garden and start knocking down trees, house and they will kill your pinatas; you spent so much time romancing, then you find yourself having to do everything all over again and again and again trying to put everything back the way is was before the sour pinata destroyed it. I see why some find this game a bit boring having to do things over and over, but it is also a bit Addictive you find yourself wanting to try and get the garden just prefect and beat those sour pinatas.
If you like an easy game were you have to out wit a pinata you'll enjoy this game, but if your into fast running, shooting games you'll find this game very boring. I enjoy it like a good puzzle on a rainy day; trying to put everything in the right place, when your stuck inside with nothing else to do.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2009This game is so addictive and hard to put down. I love video games, from Sims/Gears of War/FallOut and if I love it, I'll play it for a few weeks, beat it a couple times and trade it in. The thing about this game is its quite repetitive. It's loads of fun but it fell flat quickly for me. Might be something I'd try to get back into later. Also, the warning in the book "If you think you're having a seizure, stop playing immediately" made me laugh. Probably not supposed to, but it did. Hah!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2017At first, I was quickly getting tired of this game. Now I am hopelessly addicted! It's a surprisingly complicated family-friendly game. This is a game where you must plan and set up the perfect environment for a particular Piñata species, and then move on to the next. This is an Xbox 360 game from 2006, and the graphics hold up surprisingly well. The soundtrack is also really nice. I recommend getting the guide since this game is pretty complicated and there are a lot of secrets.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2007When you hear the name Viva Piñata and you know that there's a childern tv series, you may think that this is a game for children. But that's absolutly wrong, this is one of the finest games for the xbox 360, and the level of diculty is enough to make happy to all those "Sims-like" games fans.... this is a real master piece from our Rare-MGS friends... give this game a chance... belive me, you won't be dissapointed
