In the 1980s, Tony Margolis, Bob Emfield and their wives mused about never leaving the beach. This led to the invention of a character named Tommy Bahama. By asking "What would Tommy wear?" and imagining the details of his life, they unwittingly created the springboard for a new brand and the Tommy Bahama Group, Inc.

Our Brand

In 1991, Tony and Bob discussed their concept with Lucio Dalla Gasperina. From the outset, the three envisioned the kind of upscale casual apparel Tommy would wear: printed silk shirts and tailored pants for refined island living. They soon launched a collection of menswear that transported people to an island state of mind and celebrated the best part of the week - the weekend.

    I use this for transporting files to and from court. I wanted something that was not black like all the other lawyers out there. After reading the reviews I was nervous but bought it anyway because it was affordable. Surprisingly, it has been a sturdy bag and travels well. After more than 2 years I have no complaints. It is not as big as other bags but it holds up to the craziness of my law practice and fits easily in the metal detectors I walk through all the time. It has 3 separate inner zipper compartments, and each of those compartments has additional internal dividers. One criticism is that the strap tends to drag if it is not fastened.

    The original tag said 400, feels more like a 40 bag that needed to be reduced to 20. The look is pretty, but the craftsmanship is cheap. The pulling feels even cheaper. The two stars are for the look only. I think I bought the last one, so that should save you the trouble.

    We purchased this wheeled business case at a very low price (one of the holiday lightening deals) and were a little worried there would be a problem, particularly after reading a few of the complaints posted here. We figured, however, with Amazon's return policy and the fact that it was so cheap, it was worth a try. It's a very good product and we've had no problems.

    This is an attractive, very functional, sturdy case with a lot of handy sections. The handle is a little "rickety" (feels loose) which is why I knocked it down a star, though it hasn't presented a problem wheeling. It's really more for business/office use than use as luggage, which I'd kind of hoped for because of the way the interior is set up, though I suppose you could use it as a carry on for personal items. It's one of the better bargains we made this holiday season, for sure.

    Not only isn't this up to Tommy Bahama standards, it's just a total piece of junk. The quality of the fabric and zippers is extremely cheap. Don't be fooled by these other reviews, there is no way anyone can be happy with this garbage even if it's free. If you know some of these cheap brands that you feel like you can poke your finger through -- this is the equivalent. I purchased the larger of the 2 bags which come as a set, and returned it right away. I was extremely disappointed, as I was hoping it was as good as it looked in the photo. If you make the mistake of actually ordering this, you will see what I mean.

    For years, the employees in our company get together and buy the owners Tommy Bahama shirts. We wanted something different this year, and since they always use their rolling laptop cases, this seemed perfect. We were worried that the price and some of the bad reviews, meant a shoddy product! These are GREAT!!!! the material is nice, the space is large, and there is alot of great spots inside for different items. There is even an elastic locking band inside to keep your laptop or other items in place! The only negative thing about this is that the handle is a tad bit light weight. We love that there is a zipper to tuck the handle in, and it can be carried as a regular bag by the fabric handle. My father, one of the owners, has about 4 other items from the nassau collection, and this is the PERFECT addition for him!

    Used this for a trip or two and got rid of it. It's too big for how much it can carry. Doesn't fit under airline seats so if you're going to drag a roller back around with you anyway might as well have the "full size" version.

    I expected quality when purchasing this item. I like the spaces provided, one for the laptop, many others for files, etc. What I did not like is how it immediately started to sag. The design was very poor. The entire bottom should be made much firmer to withstand holding weight. I think it would sag if you filled it with feathers.
