    Product Description

Panasonic's LUMIX DMC-GF3 realizes all the features you want from a bulky DSLR interchangeable lens camera, only it accomplishes this in an ultra compact point-and-shoot camera body about as wide and tall as a typical smart phone yet is lightweight and simple to master. This remarkable reduction in size and weight is thanks to advancements in new mirror-free camera technology, and large DSLR format sensors that are more compatible with a new class of compact Micro Four Thirds (MFT) System lenses. This new class of Compact System Cameras (CSC) offers a weight and compactness not seen in traditional DSLRs, yielding greater portability and creative control. The DMC-GF3's image quality comes from a large DSLR-sized 12.1-megapixel sensor and newly advanced image processing technologies. The DMC-GF3 provides a traditional DSLR-like experience without the need for complicated external mode dials, yet provides intuitive and quick access to common modes like Program, Shutter and Aperture Priority, Manual via a touch-enabled LCD that operates much like a smart phone. The DMC-GF3 provides a dedicated video button that can be used to switch to video capture quickly without changing modes. At the heart of the DMC-GF3's simplified functionality is a large 3.0-inch LCD (460k- dot) that allows for intuitive touch control of menus and most shooting, focusing, playback and effects controls. Menus can be customized using simple drag-and-drop actions like those on most touch-enabled smartphones. This allows for a custom user interface, giving Quick Menu access to functions that can be tailored to any user's expertise level. Using the touch-screen operation, a user can lock onto a subject, enabling AF Tracking in both still and video modes. When you're ready to shoot, the subject will be in focus and ready to capture.

Good camera still in time to get beautiful pictures
Good camera still in time to get beautiful pictures, I bought it used, and it work very well. I used many lens but finally I bought a vintage tv lens 50mm 1.4 from Fotasy and I love it, the lens work very well with micro 4/3 like lumix and olympus pen cameras.

DO NOT ORDER IF YOU MAY RETURN. CHARGED $75 RESTOCK FEE. Ordered thinking it was a red camera. It is actually PINK. Tested the camera. Poor quality, but you should guess from the price. Needs expensive lenses, filters, and other add-ons to be a decent entry level dslr. The A.I. function is something to be desired. I believe a young child could pick random settings that produce a more quality picture. Poor focus and iso. The menu is not user friendly at all.

My older camera is Lumix G1
I really enjoy that camera for being so tiny & powerful.

I guess having a Canon DSLR isn't always so fun.
Its heavy and to much to carry

The Lumix Gf3 I was able to carry on a hiking trip & To Vegas! without hauling a bunch of equipments while still getting great quality photos!! I mean unless you were out to shoot that amazing National Geographic Magazine cover photo yeah you can lingering all those tools togather. but if it was a family hiking trip I say the Lumix GF3 do a pretty damn lightweight job at not breaking my BBN, Bank,Back,Neck.

Lumix Gf3 easy to use, even a 4 year old can do it..maybe.. Touchscreen is nice..Sluggish at times. I have notice. IT comes with alot of pre-set setting. I found the Dog recognize setting to be very interesting. and the baby face recognize function to be funny but useful!
It takes picture very quick. Quick than P&S cameras.

You don't want P&S? But want DSLR Quality camera? While still able to change lens??

The GF3 seems to be intended for casual shooters who want the small size and picture quality of interchangeable lens compacts without the bulk of dSLR's, and don't mind not having a hot shoe (external flash), viewfinder, or a lack of physical buttons. The touch screen TFT LCD is used for framing and for many other functions. Overall picture quality seems very good and sharp.

      Specifications
12.1mp (effective) Four Thirds liveMOS Censor, 3-in. TFT touch LCD (460,000 dot), 1080i (60 fps) AVCHD, mono mic, burst 3.8 fps, ISO 160-6400, weight (body) - 0.6lb with card/battery, size (body) - 4.2 x 2.6 x 1.3 inch, mini HDMI out, battery - 320 shots, lens 14-42mm, lens hood included.

Note: Camera made in Japan, 14-42mm lens made in China. All very solid and high quality. No security seal on box, so I was checking if it was an open box item. Everything seems very new, and I didn't find any scratches, smudges, or any damage on the body or at both ends of the lens on mine.

      Style
What stands out are the curves that make it look stylish and modern.

      Size
The camera body is small enough, but not too small to hold with medium sized hands. Similar in body size to Olympus E-PM1, and Sony NEX series (3, C3). The 14-42mm lens larger than E-PM1, about same size as NEX series with 18-55mm.

      Color
I have the white one. The color is slightly yellowish creamy white, instead of pure (printer paper) bright white. A coating on the white surface make it seems very smooth, like it is waxed. The center edge of the body is gray as pictured, and almost matches the grey part of the lens that attaches the body. I really like the color, and it makes the camera stand out.

      Languages
The US version has English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

      Performance
-Instant on - less than 1 second.
-Extremely fast autofocus in good light, pretty much instant. At low light, slightly slower, but still very fast.
-Shutter lag didn't seem like a problem.
-Touch screen can be used for focusing and taking pictures. Requires a little pressure. Quick menu can be configured with functions that are used the most.
-Noise - Can take acceptable pictures up to ISO 3200 JPEG (also rated by professional reviews). Raw pictures required manual software adjustments, but should be acceptable to ISO 1600.
-Many picture effects and scene modes.
-A physical button to quickly go to auto mode.
-Built in Flash (can be tilted up creatively with fingures) - (see problem)
      -Off in about 3 seconds.

      What's Not
-No hot shoe (for external flash), no mode dial (it is in the screen), and very few physical buttons (all in the screen).
      -No stereo sound

      Problem
Flash - The 14-42mm lens blocks a bit of light at the lower center edge, causing an obvious darker area, but the darker area is rather small. This also happens to large zoom lens on dSLR's with built in flash. On the GF3, you can fix it by zooming in just a little before taking a picture, and the darker area on the edge is gone.

I received this camera and was extremely dissatisfied. I have a new baby and was excited to get a nice camera. No matter where I used this camera or on who, it took blurry pictures. We sent it back to Panasonic and they did nothing about it and even sent back to us the same broken camera. We cannot take quality, clear pictures of anything or anyone. We will not recommend this camera to anyone and especially will not purchase anything with the brand Panasonic.

Can't say anything about this camera other than it's perfect for what I needed it for. I used my friend's iPhone and was blown away by the features like touch to focus, touch to take pictures, quick focus, ect...

I went on a search to find a camera that had all those features, but had the quality of a DSLR. I bought this camera at Target, but returned it in order to by a Canon T2i for the video recording capabilities. I quickly realized my mistake, but Target stopped carrying the camera right before I went back to buy it again (they literally had it in the store and wouldn't sell it to me).

I won in the end, because the brown version of this camera was much, much cheaper than the all black one at Target anyway. Sold!

Compared to the T2i this product is "newer technology." If you like to shoot in manual mode, better stick to a real DSLR, but for point and shoot with DSLR like quality, you've to love this one.

Cons: The lens blocks the flash if you're too close to the subject. There is no hot shoe. The mic is right where your left pointer finger is going to want to sit, that's horrific, but I use a separate mic anyway. No mic input. The ISO is not easy to select, which is highly annoying. The IA Mode is usually good, but can sometimes be inconsistent. The LCD screen is great, but the functions displayed get in the way of the picture sometimes.

The positives are so overwhelming that I've been able to easily work around the cons. I hate flash photography anyway (I use 3 softboxes on my shoots).

This video mode is not as phenomenal as the T2i, but it's fantastic anyway. It also can actually auto focus, though you have to watch it, because it will focus on different items at it's own preference in IA mode.
