    Initially I would have given this five stars because it's easy to assemble and looks great! I bought two of them (different colors) and BOTH had hooks break off pretty soon after using. I kept using them with the remaining hooks, but they are rather delicate so be careful what you hang on them! (No winter coats!)

    Initially I was very happy with my purchase. It came in a very nice cherry-colored finished wood, and it was nicely standing next to my entrance door until 8 months later one of the base started to crack on one side. It was standing on 3 wooden parts that you had to slide in. I had some wood glue on hand and started to glue the broken part and then suddenly another base started to crack as well. I realized from that point that even though it looked superb when first assembled that it was all junk. There was definitely not too much hanging for it to break. Horrible bad quality for it to break in 8 months!

    I originally gave this product a five-star review. I love its classy look, ease of assembly, and the price is hard to beat. However, one of the legs broke after about three months. The socket holding the leg just splintered off. We did not overload or abuse the coat rack; it just broke on its own, and fortunately no one was around when it happened (we went out to dinner and when we came home it was on the floor).

    We really liked this coat rack and, despite the problem, decided to order another one hoping we had just gotten a bad one. I set the new one up today (4/26/12) and discovered that it now comes with a metal brace that fits around the bottom of the unit where the legs go in their sockets. Apparently we were not the only ones that had the issue of the broken leg. The assembly instructions list the brace as "optional," but I would HIGHLY recommend using it if you buy this coat rack.

    UPDATE 6/11/13: The replacement rack with the metal brace broke today, in the same manner as the first: the socket holding the leg splintered and the coat rack fell over. This one lasted a little over a year; at least it was better than the first one which only lasted three months. I've reduced the rating to two stars. This is probably my last go-around for this coat rack, I may invest in a better one that will hold up over the long haul. This one would be cheap to replace with the same thing, but I would hate for it to fall over on my toddler or one of my pets.

    I was excited when I read the reviews about this product stating it was a durable coat rack. The price seemed too good to believe. The product arrived very quickly and was super easy to assemble, but broke within an hour of putting it up when my cat knocked it over. The entire coat rack split in half just from being knocked over by a cat. Amazingly cheap quality. I'm so disappointed that I spent $15 + shipping on this item and didn't even get to use it.
