Was purchased back in 2011 and still working. I will admit in 4 years I've probably only used this 10 times but it does do a descent job in clearing out the snow down to the pavement and makes easy work for my front porch and steps since it is not heavy. Deepest snow I have used it on was probably around 9 inches of wet stuff. I have never seen it throw snow over 20 feet but when it is 5+ inches it will throw it a good 10 to 15 feet. Spray some silicone or WD 40 in the chute area and it doesn't clog. I have a 2 car driveway which backs out onto a cul de sac in suburbia. It makes easy work for the driveway and sidewalk. I've pushed it through watery slush at the bottom of driveway where it meets the road and it will throw that stuff about 5 feet and keeps on going.
I have grown to trust electric yard tools now and have not had problems with the ones I own motor wise except for the Safety Buttons. Those are where the problems seem to lie with these when they do not start. They seem to always be cheaply made and a spring or lead which makes contact with the electricity seem to always be the culprit.
Terrible product quality. I bought it near the end of January 2012 in case we have occasional snow in Maryland. Used 3 times for the last two years. It works okay if the snow is fluffy/dry and less than 10". If snow is wet, the chute keep stuck and need to stop and clean it every 2 minutes. When I brought it out of garage 2 days ago trying to clean the snow, it won't start when pressing the safety lock button and handle bar at the same time. Called the manufacturer. I was told that they don't have dealer/authorized repair shop and there is no part to fix it. The only option is to replace it with a new unit. Since it's out of the 2 year mfg warranty (2 Yr 11 month since the purchase), they won't do anything. Luckily I bought it with MasterCard, which is supposed to extend the mfg warranty for another year. Just filed a claim with MasterCard and see how it goes. This product doesn't worse the trouble considering how little it's used before breaking down. The safety lock/power button is very stiff and seems to be easy to be broken.
Hopefully, I will not have to break this out again as I have put it away for the "spring".
I only had a chance to use it thrice; however, it worked well every time. I enjoy myself a cup o' Joe and smoke while the snow falls, so I brewed one, lit one up and then I used this snow blower. It does take a bit being that I have a large driveway; though it isn't really an issue considering having a perfectly clean driveway in mid-winter is important.
Unfortunately, we nary got a snowfall that she really needed testing in. As I worked one day, the snow fell and by the time I arrived at the crib, the snow totaled about 6 inches. I got it revved up in seconds as it is incredibly easy to start and I was on my way to a clean driveway in no time.
Only thing that stinks is the cord. I am not bad mouthing the company, I am just silly sometimes. I got the cord tangled pretty bad by being lazy. Just don't be lazy and you will have no prob.
This snow thrower is light enough to easily pick up and put in the back of a vehicle, but strong enough to save a ton of effort moving snow. I've used a couple of electric snow throwers before and this one performs very well, and cleans closer to the pavement than the others. It can handle piles deeper than the unit itself by throwing off the top first and then cleaning up the bottom layer. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.
E'er had 5" of light, not wet snow in nyc, i took the broom for my hood sidewalk, took the blower to the store located on a corker, made 1 25' pass, out clicked and turned of. I checked the outlet and extension cord. Looks like the starter button isn't engaging. Nit worth the Gael of assembling garbage. I'll get a toro.
My wife got me one of these for xmas. I took it out the first time and it went threw 5 inches of snow like nothing! It works best on blacktop or pavement but also works on gravel you just have to take your time. The harder you push the farther the snow flys. It takes a little longer because its only 18 inches but its a great little machine. The cords a pain sometimes but you will be impressed if you buy one! I love mine!
I've had this for two weeks now. It does what I need. it has no problem with the snow. My back loves it also. It only took about 10 mins to put together and I was out with the snow. If you need something for those small jobs and the price is right. you need this unit.
Update: Used it another time. I still have no problem with this unit. Driveway is cleared again. Its a must buy.
