- Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2011I read a lot of negative comments about the longer cables compared to the standard apple length, I haven't had any of the issues people have listed. I've used mine with my laptop on it's usb2 / e-sata always on port to charge my iPhone4 and to sync it, as well as to install a firmware update on it, and everything worked flawlessly. I've also used it with my desktop pc to sync music onto my iPod classic 160gb, connected to a USB 2.0 hub plugged into one of the ports on the front of my case (my only complaint about my Antec Nine-Hundred case being that it only has 2 USB ports on the front of it) and I haven't had any connection issues, errors or loss of speed. I actually took the time to compare adding 1gb of music to my iPod with a stock 3 foot apple cable and then deleted the music and added the same data back onto it with the 6 foot cable...the time was just about the same, I think it was 17 seconds faster with the longer cord, but I'm sure it was due to system memory use being different or core use on my intel quad being lower. I also saw complaints about the cable being flimsy and breaking easily, but I can't see any difference compared to the apple brand cord that came with my iPhone. Overall, I find this cable to be an excellent product at a fantastic price.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2011I noticed that when i attached my iPad to my Bose SoundDock Portable i could hear music, but the iPad was not charging.
I called Bose. The Bose rep was clueless? At that point, I knew it was Bose's problem.
I followed up with an email to CableJive asking if this was an expected result. This was their Very Competent response:
First off, thank you for your business with us. Unfortunately, yes this is an expected result, because the Bose SoundDock Portable is unable to charge the iPad. Please allow me to explain this further:
The dockXtender is a 30-pin passthrough adapter that passes your speaker dock's functionality through exactly as if your iPad was connected directly. The issue with the iPad is that it requires 2.1 Amps of power for charging, whereas iPods and iPhones only require about 1 Amp. Many docking stations that were not developed for the iPad do not output the appropriate power for charging. Considering you are unable to plug your iPad into those docks directly, you wouldn't even know about the issue without trying the dockXtender cable first. This is an issue between the iPad and speaker dock, which is unaffected by our cable."
So, this cable works PERFECTLY. If you are connecting to an iPad and expecting the iPad to charge, be certain that the device is capable of charging an iPad.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2013This cable was everything that I asked for when I ordered it! The only thing that's different from the original cable I got with my iphone when I bought it is the little tab at the bottom that has the imprint in it to tell what side goes up for plugging in to your phone. This one has a larger grip (but I think this is a good thing) because it's easier to pull out of your phone without yanking on it. There isn't anything that I've found that isn't just what I ordered; it fits easily into the outlet square that came with my phone and the other end that plugs in is easier for me to snap in and out of my phone. The one that came with my phone is smaller and I have a harder time trying to get a good grip on it without it slipping out of my fingers. This cable also has an impression on it to show which side goes up when plugging in to the device. While it came from overseas it got to my house in Ohio within 2 weeks tops. Very fast and I'm in love with what I bought. Great buy for so cheap! I highly recommend it :]
- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2013This is the lowest cost 6ft calbe I found in Amazon. Not expect too much but it turned out just fine for my need.
Initially, I thought I would get it in 5-8 business days when I placed the order. But then I got a shipping notice said that it has shipped from HongKong, a surprise. I tracked the shipping at Amazon and found it has a estimated 18 days arrival from shipped date, four days into my planned trip taking place. I was disappointed and tried finding alternative source. But this cable showed up in my mailbox yesterday. It took only 10 days from HongKong through airmail to get here in the USA. Not bad, before my trip. I tried it out immediately with the 120V/240V 2100ma USB charger I got from Amazon weeks ago and it works flawlessely together with my i-touch.
I did notice that the charge rate of the 6ft cable is only 70%~75% compared to the OEM 3ft charge/syn cable. This means it may take up to 50% or longer time to fully charged. This is due to the 6ft cable by length has higher resistance value compare to the 3ft cable.
I verified this by monitoring current/watts during charging with 6ft cable and 3ft cable. With same charger the 3ft cable source 5 watts, the 6ft only 4 watts. My power meter's reading has no fraction only integers, so the estimation could be more or less than what I shown here but the longer charge time of 6ft cable is definitely hold true. I think this is the reason OEM cable only come with 3ft to limit long charge time.
The longer charge time of 6ft cable is not a issue in my case becasue I can use it while I am charging. This is very important besides the convenience it provided at the airport or at the Starbucks. I no long tie to a wall socket even at home. I give it a 4 stars for what it worth.
