- Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2011I brought this camera for my husband. He absolutely loves it. He had a canon rebel xs before he got this one. This camera does so much more. This is one gift he'll continue to use for some time. He took our family portrait and it turned out great!!!!... Thanks
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2016The camera had a wiring issue, rendering it unusable, and when we returned it, it took months of fighting with the company to reimburse the charges.
Assuming one got a working body, it would be a great deal. I hope we just ended up getting a lone, defected camera body.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2012No doubt this camera with 15-85 lens is an excellent combination.
But, this price is little HIGH. It Should be $1700 to $1800.
I have bought one 7D with 15-85 in $2020 in Feb 2012.
I got it with decent accessories(32GB Card + Battery + Case + Tripod + UV Filter + Cleaning Accessory Kit)
Whoever wants to order, please wait for some more time definitely the price has to come down soon.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2011This camera was purchased as the next step in building a professional photography business. Photographing Sky Divers needs multiple frames per second and this seemed to be the best camera for the price. Unfortunately, it has a very bad focusing problem that Canon is refusing to recognize. The Canon reps acted like high school kids, not knowing much about the camera or photography at all. The supervisors keep directing people back and forth and trying to make the photographer feel the problem is his fault rather than the fact that some of their cameras may have a "malfunction" and they don't want to admit it.
Here is a link to a forum discussing the problem with many photographers;
[...]
Some people say their camera is fine so it might just be only 1 camera in 10 but if you are the lucky one to get that 1, good luck getting taken care of by Canon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Appareil de très bonne qualité !!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Camera, would it be worth upgrading to?
I thought long and hard about getting one, I own a 50D which is a really good camera as well, and had been a bit disappointed when it was superseded by the 60D only 6 months later, but did not see the flexible live view screen as any real improvement. Having an unexpeceted small windfall gave me the chance to get the 7D, and now I have had the chance to compare the two side by side. The first thing to notice is the bigger viewfinder, which is a great improvement, (as an unexpected bonus this results in far less "nose" marks on the LCD screen), and the second is fewer pre-programmed auto modes available, but on reflection I had never used these on the 50D anyway. The next improvement is with all the different autofocus modes, much better choice than on the 50D, the focus can now be controlled into zones, and even then expanded into different modes, and I'm still trying to come to terms with the different options. The camera is customisable to an almost bewildering number of ways, and I'm now working out which modes will suit me best. You can however put up to 3 sets of setings into the camera control & change them at any time.
Small differences like a grid in the display (which can be on or off) helps composition, and the electronic level diplay is ..well a novelty if nothing else! (Oh it is useful at times), However the purpose of any camera is to take pictures, so how does the 7D compare to the 50D for this. Well the higher spec sensor can capture more detail up to a point, but there are few lenses that can take real advantage of this "race to have yet more pixels", and in truth you would be hard pressed to see any major diffence in quality between the 2 cameras results unless you are always producing monster size prints,(in which case the 5D Mk2 could be a better choice). Also the improved autofocus options can get perfect shots slightly more often than the 50D. I have tried the camera out at maximum frame rate, this is awesome, especially for anyone into sports/wildlife photo's, and could well get you that elusive shot of fast moving subjects. When all this is combined with built it remote flash trigger, what is there not to like?
The movie mode is a novelty, I have tried it, but as I have a good Sony camcorder I would rather use that, as the limitation of shooting time (due to file sizes) on the 7D mean it is only useful for times when a camcorder is not at hand, especially as it records all the lens noises during recording! The camera is certainly the best I have ever handled, and can cope with a vast range of situations if used correctly, BUT, if you own a XXXXD model, ask if you are really unhappy with the quality of the pictures it takes, and do you really NEED all the features of the 7D before you buy one, and yes, as others have said, you need the best lenses going to take advantage of it. I'm delighted I got one, don't regret it for a moment, but I doubt many people seeing the final results will REALLY be able to say which camera took what!
LATER REVIEW
Well I said the video mode was a novelty, and it isn't suitable for a long video, but having used it to record the grandchildren doing things when I didn't have time to get the video camera out, I am amazed how much easier it is to use than the camcorder due the the bigger LCD screen, and there being less "wobble" on the shots due to using both hands. It can't replace a camcorder, but as an alternative for shortish clips with amazing quality it really is something to consider as a bonus with this camera, pity about the lens noise though, but if you have editing software you can cut it out! (Or buy a remote microphone).

4.0 out of 5 stars Check your scroll wheel!
The camera is really good - just like everyone says. Its robust, much better exposure + dynamic range than my old 450d. The 450d would often over expose, the 7d rarely did this.
I noticed that the scroll wheel was a bit loose. It would tap against the body of the camera when you rested your thumb against it. Amazon sent me a replacement and the new one was rock solid, only turned and no for/aft movement.
The first camera was preloaded with version 2 firmware, with a version 2 manual + version 2 sticker. The replacement was manufactured 5 months earlier than the first and was unfortunately old v1 stock.
