Gently Cleans Teeth with Sonic Technology

Unlike a manual toothbrush, the Philips Sonicare EasyClean uses powerful Sonic technology to clean teeth with up to 31,000 movements per minute. These sweeping motions drive fluids deep into the tight spaces between your teeth and along your gum line, resulting in a cleaner, healthier mouth.

ProResults Brush Head Removes Plaque Along the Gum Line

With contoured bristles that correspond to the natural shape of your teeth, the Sonicare EasyClean delivers a thorough, comfortable brushing experience. Its ProResults brush head has extra-soft rounded bristles that clean along the gum line, removing disease-causing plaque for a more thorough clean.

For added convenience, the ProResults brush head snaps onto the handle for easier brush-head replacement and handle cleaning.

Easy-Start, Smartimer, and Quadpacer Simplify Brushing

The EasyClean makes it easy to care for your oral health. You need to apply only light pressure when using this toothbrush--the Sonicare EasyClean will do the brushing for you. For further convenience, the Sonicare EasyClean Toothbrush features an Easy-start feature that gently increases the toothbrush's power automatically over the first 14 uses, so you can gradually adjust to the Sonic technology.

The Sonicare EasyClean Toothbrush also features two timers to keep you on track. The Smartimer encourages you to brush for a full two minutes, the time recommended by dental professionals, while the Quadpacer beeps in 30-second intervals to make sure you thoroughly brush all four quadrants of your mouth. If you wish to pause or stop during brushing, just press the power button. If you press the power button again within 30 seconds, the timers will pick up where you left off.

Smartimer

After 2 minutes, the Smartimer automatically switches off the toothbrush. To pause or stop brushing during the 2-minute cycle, press the on/off button. If you press the on/off button again within 30 seconds, the Smartimer picks up where you left off.

Quadpacer

The Quadpacer is an interval timer. At 30, 60 and 90 seconds, you hear a short beep and pause in the brushing action. This is your signal to move to the next section of your mouth.

Two Weeks of Power on a Single Charge

After a full 24-hour charge, the Sonicare EasyClean Toothbrush will provide approximately two weeks of typical use (two minutes of brushing, twice a day). A convenient recharge indicator on the brush displays the available battery life and blinks when you need to recharge.

Because the EasyClean Toothbrush can last two weeks between charges, you can leave its charger at home for most of your travels. A hygienic travel cap is included for further on-the-go convenience.

About a year ago my parents sent me an electric toothbrush (<$20) because they were impressed with new ones that had recently tried. I was favorably impressed with the cleaning, but found that replacing the batteries always resulted in the waterproof seal being damaged and the batteries would flood. I went through about 4 of them, with at least a couple different types, and the story was always the same. Occasionally the heads would work their way apart too, even though they were within their regular use period.

You have 2 types to choose from if you step up in quality: Oral-B (with the round spinning heads) and Philips (with the more traditional up and down stroke head). My personal preference is the Philips type of head. After much research, I found that the older Philips models, with the much bigger base to the replaceable brush end, were getting reports of significant material (toothpaste, saliva, etc.) remaining under the bigger base. For this reason I chose the least expensive of the smaller head toothbrushes, the Easy Clean, which had reviews as high as their most expensive models.

Cleaning under the head is very easy, as I imagine it would be under the larger heads, but there is simply very little there to clean. The brush heads do a great job, and i have no doubt my teeth have never been cleaner. The design allows me to reach anywhere in my mouth, and after a little getting used to it, I am fine with the 'quadrant' system it uses. This way, you brush upper or bottom, left or right teeth for 30 seconds, then the toothbrush gives a slight beep, encouraging you to move to the next quadrant. In 2 minutes, you are done and it shuts off. This forces you to focus on exactly where you are brushing, to make sure you don't 'run out of time'. I used to brush longer, but now with the stroke speed and the strict timing, my teeth are much cleaner in a guaranteed 2 minutes. Of course you could turn the brush on again, but if you pay attention, there is no need to to do this.

Since stroke speed is very fast, there apparently is an initial 14 day break in period, whereby the brush moves slower to start, but increases in speed over each of those uses. This can be reset if ever needed. I didn't really notice this change over time, but I guess that is part of the intent.

The charging base is miniscule, with a simple structure, but very effective and requires virtually no effort to insert the toothbrush.

The toothbrush itself is not cheap, but is well priced through Amazon. The individual heads are quite pricey $8-$10 each, but can be bought in packs of 2-4 to save a little bit. If this cost were to drop somewhat, I'm sure the number of users would increase dramatically.

Great product that exceeded my expectations! I wish I had bought one years earlier, and probably would have if the cost wasn't such an issue.

I purchased this toothbrush as a replacement to my HX6950 because the metal tip where the brush head connects became loose and fell off after being dropped. I never used any of the other options that the HX6950 offers such as Gum Care, Refresh, etc., so the one function on the HX6511/50 is good enough for me. This toothbrush uses the same type of brush heads, ProResults, which is good since I have replacement heads at the ready. One thing that I was not aware of when I first used this model was that it has an "Easy-start" feature which increases power over the first 14 uses to ease you into the Sonicare experience. Having already been used to the full power of the HX6950, I felt like the HX6511/50 was extremely weak at first, but I am noticing that it is increasingly getting stronger, so that is good. The only complaint I really have about it now is that it doesn't display how much charge it has, it only flashes a light when battery is getting low.

One thing I do recommend is that you remove the brush head and rinse the connecting parts after each use. If you keep the brush head on, over time old toothpaste begins to build up and I noticed on my old HX6950 that mold had started to grow on the rubber that is attached to the metal tip. It was easily cleaned off with bleach and did not return as long as I let the area air out after each use. The Hx6511/50 has a slightly different design in this area which uses less of the rubber protector, so hopefully it won't be an issue, but I would still remove the brush head after cleaning anyway.

Overall, if you are just looking for an electric toothbrush without the need for extra features such as Sensitive, Refresh, or Massage, this toothbrush works great. I have not used any other electric toothbrushes, but I have used a regular toothbrush when I was out of town and forgot my Sonicare, and I did not feel clean at all after brushing. The Sonicare really delivers a good cleaning and you can tell right away the difference between a standard toothbrush and the Philips Sonicare. I would continue to purchase the Sonicare products in the future if/when this toothbrush goes out on me.

I’ve used a Phillips Sonicare for over 30 years. Great product. This is my third replacement. The first two had all the bells and whistles but like everything else the motor or battery eventually developed problems. Buying the first unit was expensive and the second one had gone up exponentially. That one would have cost me almost $300 including tax. Even with inflation taken into account, that became a reach!

So I searched other manufacturers for an alternative and also found this, Phillips Sonicare. It is their cheapest model, under $50 with tax. It does not have all the extra settings, stuff I did not use much anyway. Plus I knew I could return it if it proved to be unsatisfactory.

This model does a decent cleaning with the C2 plaque brush that comes with it. If I used the faster of the two power settings it felt more substantial. Then I bought their more expensive Diamond Clean brush heads. An upgrade on their C2 head. A two pack on Amazon added another $30 to the overall purchase, but it is became much closer in feel and performance to my two previous units. Net net, a savings of $200. I can live with that!

This is my first time using Philips sonicare Toothbrush. Ordered with a bit hesitation. But once I used brush I immediately felt difference. My mouth was fresh all the time.
Brush has 2 minutes cycle in which teeth divided in 4 quadrant. It stops automatically after 2 minutes. Battery life is excellent and once charged takes long time for charging again.

Although product is pricy and original heads cost pricy but third party ones available.

I suggest to definitely go for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great toothbrush
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 3, 2014
After owning this toothbrush for about one and a half months now I can say that it is very well suited to me. I can confirm that you can use the diamond tip heads with it which are supposedly much better at cleaning your teeth.

The head doesn't rotate from side to side like oralB brushes that my wife uses, but rather vibrates. I can't see any difference in the clean quality though.

The battery cycle seems to be very much better then my wife oralB though. It states that it will operate through 50 bush cycles, but I personally think that it is much more than this. I only charged the unit for about 20 mins after unboxing it the evening that it arrived and is is still going strong (note - I don't religiously brush my teeth morning and night, but usually at least once a day and use half a cycle to use a tooth whitening paste after brushing).

The unit has about a 30 second memory, by which I mean if you stop the brush for whatever reason and then restart it within 30 seconds it will pick up from where it left off in the brush cycle.

Like most electric toothbrushes these days it runs for two minutes with 3 short pauses at 30 second intervals to let you know it is time to move onto another quadrant of your mouth.

My only gripe with this is that the 'base station' charger is very small and light so it is very easy to knock it over.

Toothbrush heads come with a reusable plastic cover on them which is a great little addition for when you are traveling or swapping heads when your other half is using the bush as well.

From what I can see there are no 'sensitive gums' brush heads for this line, but i personally find them to be quite soft, however my wife disagrees (hence why she will continue to use the oral B even though the battery on this is far superior).

Awesome product by Philips. Good and quick cleaning. Philips Sonicare HX6511/50 Easyclean is powerful enough for cleaning entire mouth in 4 minutes (two switch ON ie., 2 min for all teeth and 2 min for finishing the unfinished parts of teeth and tongue).
