CONs:
- Noise: Fan noise for several minutes; chunk-a-clunk noise while printing. I've learned to ignore it.
- Does not support AirPrint (Apple's protocol for printing from iPhone, iPad)

- Wireless networking version ( MFC-7860DW ) if you're not hard wired. (average $20 more)
- Non-duplex version ( MFC-7360N ) (low tide around $100)

Price is very bouncy. Low tide is around $138. Amazing deal. There's an "Online Price Alert" that will email you whenever this or any amazon product dips below your target price. Google it. It's nicely done. Or try camelcamelcamel.

- Toner refill powder such as TN-450 Toner Refill with Reset Flag Gear & Lever by AAAtoner or Laser Tek Toner Refill Kit 4 Pack for Brother TN-450 reduces cost even further.
- - - Notes - - -
Note 1: Cost per page (Toner + Drum) can be...
- 2.3 cents -- Brother toner and drum replacements at average amazon price
- 1.9 cents -- Brother toner and drum replacements at lowest price and extended usage; (3,000 copies per cartridge, 15,000 per drum -- reduced quality at tail end)
- 0.8 cents -- Use toner refill powder at lowest price and extended usage.
Brother Toner TN-450 is $42.50-47.00, 2600 pages. Brother DR-420 drum is $ 69-74, 12,000 pages. When replacing the gougy-priced drum, it's sometimes cheaper to buy an entire HL-2230 or HL-2240 printer on sale for $70 or less (includes DR-420 drum and a 700 page starter cartridge).
Toner refill powder: $8-12 (assume 3000 copies -- average 0.30 cents per copy). Starter cartridge requires Flag Gear Kit, about $3-6 (one time).
Printer comes with drum and 700 page starter toner. Subtracting the value of these, the hardware itself costs about $57 ($138-69-12)
Save more ink (and paper) by shrink-printing (2 to1) when appropriate.
.
Note 2: Standby energy: My old Brother MFC-7820N pulled 7.3 watts on standby. That's $35 to $105 over 5-years (24x365x5 @ 11 to 33 cents per kilowatt hour). This MFC-7460DN draws 1.2 watts on standby ($6 to $18 over 5 years). This printer also has a hard-off switch, which some other printers don't have.
EDIT: Six year follow up! This printer is still working wonderfully. The scanner has not developed any deal pixels, I haven't had any issues with paper jams, and the printing is just as good as the day I purchased it, even when using refilled toner cartridges. The drivers for Windows 10 were there when I upgraded and they haven't trimmed any functionality as the product has aged. I have the same great printer preferences and the scanning suite works just the same. I recommended this printer to a number of family and friends and they all have had positive experiences with them.
The printer works with Windows XP x86/x64 and Windows 7 x86/x64. No issues setting up network printing. Scanner is quick and software allows saving to PDF and multi-page TIFF in addition to the usual image formats.
I just went out and bought a Canon Imageclass D560/530. The drivers say they are for Windows XP and 7. I had absolutely NO problems and it runs beautifully on Windows 8.
The upshot? I will NEVER buy another Brother. They are relatively inexpensive but that's because they don't have any support people to pay for.
Top reviews from other countries

The printer is fast enough for home use, does double-sided printing well. Print is clear and crisp. No paper jams. The scanner is good for everyday work. The MFC is shared by two desktop and up to 4 laptops at a time, and I can print from and scan to any of them. Because the printer is a device on the network, queuing multiple printouts from multiple computers is handled by the printer and the driver on the computers. I don't do enough simultaneous printing from different computers to really know that this works well, but I have not had any issues like two printouts becoming interleaved.
As with virtually all printers sold today, this printer comes with a "starter" toner cartridge that does not print as many pages as a full one, but it lasted quite a while. My experience was that the low toner warning came on early, but no earlier than any of the other 4 laser printers that I have had. I could print about 100+ more pages before the cartridge was really empty. Printed pages are deposited on the top of the gray section in the middle, and it can't hold a lot of output so when printing a long document you have to remove the printed pages every 50 or so.
I recommend this as good value for home use. The real value will depend on how long it lasts, but so far there is no reason to think it won't provide years of service.

Gripe ... I wish Brother would stop setting on the toner low message so early. Every time I see the toner low message I know to ignore it as there is plenty of toner left in the cartridge. Come on guys ... don't do this.

What i couldn't believe was the fact that the manufacturer doesn't supply the data cable(the one bet the comp and the printer)with it.
After i paid 20$ for it at a store I realized that this is prob the one of the reasons for the printer to be as cheap...

I recommend this printer.
