Basic Jam Prevention
Paper jams are the #1 frustration among shredder users. That's why Fellowes shredders are engineered to take on every job, no matter how tough. The Fellowes 59Cb delivers basic jam prevention with patented Jam Blocker Technology to stop paper jams before they start.
Basic Safety Feature
Protect yourself and your family while shredding. The 59Cb features a patented Safety Lock which disables the shredder to prevent accidental shredding.
Superior Performance
And there's more - the Fellowes 59Cb is built to last with solid steel cutters, a powerful motor, and parts that are engineered to outperform our competitors. With its cross-cut capability, it is also tough enough to cut through credit cards and staples, while ensuring confidential documents are shredded into unreadable pieces. Additionally, the 59Cb features a 4-gallon pull-out bin for easy, mess-free waste disposal.

Things to Consider Before Purchasing a Shredder:
Cut Type
With Identity Theft concerns at an all-time high, the need to protect personal information is more important than ever. And these days, it's no longer just what you shred that matters--it's how small you shred it. Shredders with a smaller cut size will help keep your information secure long after you dispose of the particles. The smaller the cut size, the higher the security level.
If you shred confidential documents, choose Cross-Cut or smaller. A smaller cut size also means you will empty the bin less frequently.
Productivity
Shredder productivity goes beyond mere sheet capacity or speed. When shopping for a shredder, consider the machine's throughput, or the efficiency with which it can get the job done. Throughput combines the three most critical features that contribute to a shredder's performance:
Sheet Capacity x Speed (feet per minute) x Duty Cycle = Throughput
For example, a shredder with a speed of 8.2 feet per minute (FPM), may seem more productive than one that shreds at only 7 FPM. After all, it's a faster machine! But as the example below illustrates, Shredder B is actually three times more productive than Shredder A, due to a longer duty cycle. This means you can get more done at one time, so you can quickly move on with your day.
Quality and Durability
We understand that a shredder is not just a purchase. It's an investment. That's why Fellowes drives quality assurance to exceed expectations. Prior to launch, all Fellowes shredders are subjected to extensive field and laboratory tests, including our proprietary continuous abuse test and long-term wear. These tests simulate years of abnormally high use to ensure our products perform reliably, even under the most demanding conditions.
Our promise to you is supported by a commitment to offer the most innovative solutions, exceptional product quality, and first class service and support. Our higher standards ensure you get the most reliable shredder you can buy.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2012Amazon CustomerI purchased the Fellowes Powershred 59Cb for $124.18 to replace the Fellowes P-55C shredder which was purchased from OfficeMax for $49.99. The 59Cb is supposed to shred 9 pages at a time which does not happen. If more than 3 pages are
inserted, the machine will stop. When you empty the bin, the shredded paper spills all over the carpeting. The bin is difficult to get
back into the machine. The button to lock and unlock is tiny and hard to move.
I called Fellowes and they didn't think the above points qualified as a mechanical problem. I was told to wipe a dryer sheet inside
the bin and the area that holds the bin. Should they decide you have a "real" problem, they will replace the unit with the same shredder. Customer Service told me that all their shredders were made in China which is another reason I won't buy any more
Fellowes products.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2013This is the second Fellowes shredder I've had. Admittedly, I burned up the first one by feeding too much paper into it, but it did a good job. This one chokes, sometimes on two sheets and an envelope shuts it down. I'll make do with this one but I wouldn't buy another one.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2013I like the fact that it has a side basket and you don't have to lift the top of the shredder to empty the basket. That design is a major plus. It is okay at shredding. It only takes in very thin envelopes. You try to stick a credit card offer in there, forget it. You need to open the envelope and just shred the offer. For $100, I didn't expect a power house, but did expect a little bit more power than it provides.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2013I had an older Fellowes shredder and it worked for years. I wanted to update to a cross cut shredder for a little extra security and the built in trash can. This model is definitely more powerful than the basic model I had. It easily shreds CDs, credit cards and up to 5 sheets of paper. My older shredder got stuck on both CDs and credit cards. The jam blocker can be annoying as it is a little sensitive but it prevents you from overdoing it. The shreds do have a tendency to pile up in the middle of the trash can so it pays to empty it early and often. Otherwise it can dump the top all over your floor which is annoying. The controls are simple and it does the job and it has been working great for over 6 months now. This is a good quality shredder with nice features for the price.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2013I was using a small personal Fellowes shredder but realized that it was too small to complete the task in any reasonable time, so it was time to take a step up. I am so happy I did! This is a great shredder for personal and small home business tasks, but probably not for a small office staff with constant use. The shredder handled the task I threw at it like a champ. I had a plastic 5 gal. storage bin full of papers to be shredded. I started shredding and kept on going until it was empty. No jams, no problem, and pretty quiet also. Totally impressed and satisfied with this purchase, at this price.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2013Information states that it will shred 11 sheets of normal paper. That statement is totally misleading because it struggles to shred 4 sheets. Makes so much noise that I have to close my office door so I do not disturb other people. Unacceptable product for an esteemed company like Amazon to be selling.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2013Not nearly as good as my old Fellowes shredder. Won't shred more than about 2 sheets at the time without stopping. Hard to empty.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2013Did not work, did not do anything. I think the blades were rusted as when I slipped a paper into it I just pulled it back out covered in brown rust. Maybe it got wet? I'm expecting a replacement.
My second one works just fine. Perfect size & handles several sheets at a time.
