This is a great guitar for the money I spent ($320 used). It needed a measure of help in the form of Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze Medium Light (12-54) strings. The phosphor bronze strings that came on it made it sound "tinny" with no bottom. The built-in pre-amp seems adequate, but most of the playing I've done with it has been purely acoustic. I've played for over 40 years and own a Martin and two Eastmans. This is my "camping guitar" so if any thing happens to it, I'll be upset but get over it. I always recommend friends buy used in good shape and get a good, professional set up.
I've been playing guitar for about 17 years - I'm fairly young. I've had this one for 10 years. Let me tell you folks - buy this thing. I've probably used mine for several hundred live performances. Mine has so much use the frets are actually starting to fade a little as they will with heavy, heavy, use. I've compared it to $1200+ Takamines as well as $1200 Taylor's and have been absolutely flabbergasted at how my G series Takamine comes out on top.
I actually make a lot of money now (I was poor when I bought it and scraped together the money) and still - this is the only acoustic I need. Through a PA system it just sparkles- palm mute the strings and it gives a wonderful nice "thump" and helps drive the band and set the rhythm. I love that it does that. The pickup is wonderfully accurate.
The tonal balance is awesome!
Mine is a keeper and I'll probably wear the frets off someday!
I was looking for a good acoustic/electric and was able to get this one during the holiday lightning deals for $299. This guitar looks amazing and sounds better than it looks. The onboard tuner is a major plus, and the electronics will not disappoint. The guitar comes with high quality strings already installed, so that was an added bonus. I had planned to upgrade the strings as soon as it arrived until I saw the ones it had. I have many friends who have owned Takamine guitars and have never heard a single complaint.
The action on the guitar is adjustable but mine arrived perfect, just needed to install a battery and tune the strings. As far as sound, I would put this guitar against any comporably priced one of the market. Like I said, I got mine on sale for $299, I doubt there is another acoustic/electric for that price that can come anywhere near this guitar.
I have owned this guitar for several years now and it is absolutely amazing! It is very well build and very nice looking and it produces a fantastic sound! I have had so many complements on how much people love it. My friend has a $1200 Taylor guitar and he thinks my guitar sounds much better than his and he always wants to switch and play mine when we jam. I have been using Elixer Polyweb Medium strings and they work beautifully together not to mention the strings last a very long time. I dont play guitar daily but fairly often and tend to rock out pretty hard on the strings and I have had the same set of strings on the guitar for 3 years!! I have used this guitar for several live performances and lots and lots of recording and have never had any issues with it. If you are looking for a really great guitar without spending a ton of $$$ then look no further!

I purchased this one during a lightning deal because I had read so many positive things about it from experts and experienced players in the know. I wasn't disappointed. Has tremendous full-range and depth for an acoustic-electric with plenty of bite and bass pickup. Designed with practicality in mind, the built in tuner is easy to manage and the design of the guitar is very practical for playing barre chords and solos with ease. Very well manufactured guitar, plenty of time was spent on researching the tonal pitch and range it produces and it should serve you faithfully as an incredibly versatile axe that can sound good playing jazz, folk, blues and classical. Well worth regular MSRP, let alone on sale or discount. A fantastic value and a great, affordable gig guitar for the professional musician who requires a bit more class.

I bought this jewel as a daily deal for about half the regular price. I find the action/playability to be excellent and the tone and sustain are very good. This baby is just plain fun to play. I replaced the strings with Martin Silk and Steel, Medium light, and find them to be comfortable for me. Finish and overall attention to detail was good. I would buy again.
